Question about Acer Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Computer fails to start

I have an Acer Aspire E Series that I purchased about 3 years ago. Never had any problems until now. When I try to turn on the pc the fans on in the power supply and on the processor come on and stay on and the computer fails to boot at all. The fans remain on and nothing happens. The monitor gets no input and absolutely nothing happens. I'm pretty clueless as to what to do so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I just tried starting it with a different monitor and i also tried booting it without a monitor at all. Same results. The fans on the processor stay on. Hard drive light remains on. Stays in the same state no matter what so far.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My computer wont start

Hi Danny,

The problem you describe is more often than not caused by a faulty power supply. The simplest way to test this would be to plug in a power supply, that you know is working, into *********** board. If this doesn't solve your problem the next most likely cause would be a faulty mother board. Both of these are relatively inexpensive to replace.

Best wishes,
Graemevm

The cooling fan in my Acer Aspire laptop (bought 1 year ago) stopped working. Can it be replaced or is it part of the motherboard?

As stated it can be replaced. Might be the pits in finding the replacement fan, though.

Let's take a look at an Acer Aspire 5520 series laptop, as an example,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/take-apart-acer-aspire-5520-laptop/

Scroll down until you come to the third photo.

Getting to the Cooling Fan in the Acer Aspire 5050 series Notebook PC's, requires a lot more disassembly, however.

The Acer Aspire 5050-3242 Notebook PC, in the category heading, is part of the Acer Aspire 5050 series of Notebook PC's.

This is the Service Manual for the Acer Aspire 5050 series of Notebook PC's,

http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/#toc-acer

Go to the second Aspire heading.
The one that begins with Aspire 1200.

Now go down to the 5th line, and scroll across to > 5050.
Left-click on 5050.

This is a PDF file.
The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.

[ Although I would recommend upgrading to Adobe Reader 9, if it isn't on your computer ]

After you click on the file > 5050, you won't see anything happening for up to 30 seconds.

Most of the time the first page pops up within 10 seconds, and it requires additional time to fully download the file.

Suggest you let the file download all the way, before looking through it.
Watch the Download Progress bar.

You can save this file to your computer.
This way you can burn a copy to CD for safekeeping, and easy access anytime you wish.

You can also delete from your computer then, to save Harddrive space.
If you do not know how, and wish to, simply post in a Comment.

For further questions on this please post in a Comment.

Acer Aspire 7520 doesn't start up!

There should be a F key option at start up during the bios side of boot up. Look closely and quickly at the screen when starting up. You should see on that says retstore maybe.

if not just press all of the F keys skiping the ones listed for start up options and bios option.

Component missing Acer aspire 3620

Hey,

The vga board on this laptop heats up very easyly and the heatsink is uselessly small. Video may fail withing 12 months. I would recommend another laptop model, this series 3xxx and 15xx have cooling issues and parts fail often. Not much you can do about the problem.

Thanks,
Ekse

it could be bad motherboard.
but try to reseat memory or move memory to another slot, it could be bad ram slot.
if this don't work, it motherboard/cpu problem. most of the time it's motherboard.
