800x600 is my resolution. And yes it looks cut off and squished. Any suggestions?

what is your resolution currently set to? Does your screen look squished or cut off? or can you see everything, it's just narrower than the LCD?

Go into the control panel and center your wallpaper and stretch if it the option is there.

You should right click on your desktop (in the blank space, not on any icon or object) and select the Properties option. This will open your Display properties (but you knew this already). Go to the Settings tab at the end, and see if you can slide the resolution bar to 1280x800. This is the native resolution for your laptop's screen. If you select 800x600, you're widescreen laptop is attempting to display a 4:3 aspect ratio, so it cuts off what it doesn't need. If you select a widescreen resolution, it should automatically adjust so that it takes up the whole screen. If you don't have the option to go any higher than 800x600, you're laptop is missing the correct video drivers and you'll need to reinstall them. You can get the video drivers for your laptop here:

The most likely problem is that either the graphics card or screen are going out.if its the card all you have to do is have a computer tech install a new one and they're relitivly cheap now. but if its the screen you might as well get a new computer

Stuck process. Use Ctrl-Alt-Del to see what is not responding, kill the process.

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

Replaced DC power jack on Dell Inspiron B120. When I turn on the computer the 1st green light stays on steady the 2nd and 3rd blink occasionally but the screen is black. Any suggestions will be...

There could be many reasons for your problem from shorting something out while the motherboard was exposed to over heating the area at the power jack. My first and simplest suggestion would be to remove, and re-seat the memory modules. Are you sure you have good solder contacts on the jack you replaced?

If i reset my dell inspiron b120 to factory settings will it get rid of all the viruses

Maybe. All the OS viruses will be gone, but if you have MBR viruses, you won't get rid of those. Try Microsoft Security Essentials, it's free. Download it and scan your computer.

First check the resolution:
Right click desktop
Go to properties
Go to last tab (up top) and slide bar all the way to the right.

Dell B120-loads but no log on page seen

I have the same problem with my Inspiron 8200 - it's the video driver. The system will load but then no log on screen. The solution until you can get an updated driver is to do a power-off reset.
