Replacing the fuel lines in a 31 cc (model 780) trimmer

I am replacing the fuel lines in my 31 cc (model 780 I think) trimmer. The main line has a filter in the tank with an extension that goes out the hole, onto which the line must be pushed. There's got to be some secret way to do this! You can't really get to the filter in the tank to hold it in place while you push the line on from outside, so I assume you thread the line up into the tank and out the fuel filler opening, then push the filter into the line, then SOMEHOW pull or push it out the hole. Anybody know the official procedure?
..Ron

Hello harper6rm:

The Following is a Basic Instruction File I made for Replacing the Fuel Lines and the Filter on Chain Saws and Trimmers. Any Input is Appreciated.
>>The Fuel Line is Pushed and Pulled (I Use Long Needle Nose Pliers) Through the Small Hole Until the Hose is Out the Fill Hole about a 1/2".
>>You can Also Use a Coat Hanger with a Small J at the End to Hook the Filter in the Tank and Pull the Filter and Hose (if Detached from the Carburetor) Out the Tank Fill Hole Enough to Replace the Filter.
>>Then Attach the Filter and Pull the Hose Back Until the Filter Lays at the Bottom of the Tank Just Below the Fill Hole (or so it is in the Bottom of the Tank and will Rest in the Fuel Mix when Turned at Common Angles the Unit May be Turned to During Operation.
>>**Hint: Use Plenty of Spray Lubrication at the Small Hole as you are Feeding in the Hose. It Slides Easier.**
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

How to replace a fuel line for a poulan prolink ppb 250e 31 cc gas string trimmer

This model uses a micro bore fuel hose and is a interference fit in the tank, it is not easy to get the new hose back into the tank, you will have to trim the end of the new hose and push in from the bottom as far as you can, then use a pair of long nose pliers through the fill hole to grab the hose and pull through, you should be able to refit onto the carb elbow, if there is not enough room you will have to remove the air filter housing.

Yes you should be able to replace the rubber tank seal that the fuel line goes through. Be sure to replace the fuel line(s) when you do.

Model no.358791072 fuel lines were rotted.I need a diagram of the proper order

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
The fuel line WITHOUT a strainer will go from the tank to the OUTSIDE primber bulb connection then from the primer bulb center connection to the carb. Item 7 this link comes with the diagrams:

There are several you tube videos here on replacing fuel lines:

Something to note... inside the tank there is a fuel filter/strainer. Make sure to replace that fuel line also. The connection from the strainer will connect straight to the carb fuel mainfold connection. The center connection of the primer bulb will go straight to the carb fuel manifold.

Homelite UT2680 trimmer fuel line (25cc engine)

You can go to a small engine repair shop, parts shop or look on eBay and they should have the fuel lines you need. Not very expensive, about $1.00/foot for new Tygon lines. You are way overdue for replacing yours. The ethanol in the gas does a job on them.

Fuel bulb is not bringing in fuel when pushed

The larger line connects to the primer and returns fuel to tank. The smaller line has the fuel filter connected to it in the tank and connects to the small fitting on the side of carb.
Sounds like your problem is in the carb. You need to look your model up in Sears Parts because some models require replacing the entire carb.

Craftsman trimmer won't prime

A new carburetor would be simplest solution. You could try disassembling the carb, cleaning and replacing diaphrams, but just replacing the carb would be my choice. What is the model # on the trimmer and I can tell you the part # of the carb you need.
