Fn key stuck

My keyboard is stuck with the Fn key. I've tried rebooting, which did not help. The right side of my keyboard is useless for normal typing unless I hold the Fn key down. It is an HP mini. Any help?

Sure, buy a new keyboard. You may have to install the drivers for it but that's pretty simple.

The FN+F3 keys used to activate/deactivate the bluetooth/wifi - now it just does nothing. but "FN" + any other keys work as normal.

could be a bad keyboard but you should try a hard reboot on your computer to see if that helps. a used keyboard can come in handy to be able to test to see if it is your keyboard or not.

HOW TO DEACTIVATE TEH Fn KEY IN DELL LAPTOP

Hi names Rui, to turn Fn in you dell you need to:

1. Open your laptop and turn it on. Then locate the Fn key. It is located on the lower left side of the keyboard, next to the Ctrl key.

2. Press and release the Fn key. Now examine the keyboard carefully. You'll notice that many of the keys have icons or letters and numbers printed in blue upon them. These keys and functions are operated when the Fn key is enabled, as you've just done. Test it out by looking at the lower right side of the keyboard. You'll see two keys with small blue "sun" icons. These control the brightness of the screen. Press the lower one several times and you'll see the screen darken. Press the upper one. The screen brightens.

3. Press and release the Fn key again. Now try using the brightness keys. The screen brightness will not change. You've turned off the Fn key.

The Fn key (also known as the Function key) is a feature found on most laptop computers. The Fn key allows keys on a laptop computer's keyboard to serve more than one function, a clever way of increasing the utility of the keyboard when space is limited. Dell laptops make good use of the Fn key, and if you own a Dell laptop, you should be aware of where the key is and how to use it. So i hope this will help you.

I type j and it comes out 1. can't fix.

Try this.

Press the Start key + R.

type osk in that box and hit enter

On this keyboard, try toggling numlock scrolllock and capslock a few times. does it help?

I think your numlock might be stuck on and your keyboard "num lock" key isnt working

Function key needs reset - For any key with an alternate value normally reached by holding the Fn key to obtain...I must depress the Fn key to get the ''normal'' key value (I am doing that to type this)....

Your numlock button is on. Somewhere on the keyboard you will see a key labeled, NumLK or something similar, press this. It is usually located somewhere in the upper right side of the keyboard. What this allows you to do is turn on the number keys that are also associated with these keys, just like a normal keyboard has the number keypad on the right side, this key turns on the functionality, gets a lot of people.

Keyboard stuck in Fn mode, how do I get it out?

Hi,
Sounds like the "Num Lock" is on, the key should be at the top right hand side of the keyboard, just strike that key and the keyboard should return to normal.

Good luck

Keyboard stuck on fn

I found this on another site, and it worked on my Vostro 1510:

Try pressing shift + numlock (Scrolllock in blue) to toggle the Fn feature.

Normal numlock comes on, so press it again by itself to turn that off.

You may have activated a shortcut key on your keyboard such as the Fn (function) key. It looks like this

Fn and usually situated on the bottom left hand side of your keyboard near the left hand cntrl button.

Some function keys when pressed once remain on. Once they are on they can cause different symbols to appear in place of the normal keyboard ones. If you press your Fn key again and then try typing on the keyboard once again it may help fix your problem.

I hope this helps
Cheers
