Long flatlined beep when powered on

Hi, I really need some advice!  When I attempt to power-on my pc, I get a single beep and then a long unstopping flatline after that.  Is it dead??  If it would give me a phoenix code, that would be ok, but I get a long unstopping beeeep... and that's it, nothing else.  Fans are running, but no boot.  Please help!  Thank you!

Re: long flatlined beep when powered on

According to HP your machine should have pheonix codes. So i'm guessing that is very bad :)

Have you tried reseting the bios yet?

How about trying different memory, or just removing any extra memory.

Looks like you will have to TS this one old school. Trial and error.

Does not beep

Beep is indicated related to ram. If there is ram problem it gives a long beep. If it is working properly there is one single beep. Now you say that there is not beep, so it has to be related to motherboard and power supply. If you can open the machine remove the ram and power on it if you hear a long beep there is ram problem. If it does not beep and there is power in machine try to change the cmos battery. then too it doesnt work there is problem with your motherboard

Power on, One long beep, no keyboard/mouse or video

Hi there

if you are sure that you are only getting a single long beep then that would indicate a problem with either, the powersupply or the mainboard.

it is really difficult to advice you on what to do at this point because the error is only a long beep, you would have to bring the computer to me so I could take a closer look at it.

So I would recommend you take the machine to a local repairer for a diagnosis.

The yellow light comes on inside but the computer won't come on neither does it beep?

First remove any power cables and batteries(if laptop) from your system and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.

Plug the power cable back in & attempt to boot.
If this does not solve your problem then you will need to remove all non-essentials from your system.

If laptop, this simply consist of battery, ram, optical drive & any other removable bays or devices. Unplug all cables except the power cable & attempt to boot.

If desktop, you will need to remove any cables plugged into your computer except keyboard, mouse, power, video, sound, & network cable. Open the case & remove any PCI cards, except video cards, unless you have on-board video, unplug the data & power cables going to the optical & hard drives. Now attempt to boot. If you have no luck you can remove your RAM sticks & try again. If you get an error beep warning you about no ram then you might have a bad ram stick. If none of the above works then you may have a bad power supply or motherboard. Power supplies are pretty easy to test with tester or use a spare.

Gateway GT4010 boots then starts beeping and shuts off

First check your power supply section and check your power fan that is running properly. if ok then the suspected area is your processor section. please check it if its collar fan nor running properly then clean up or change that. and the other advice is please check your processor pin which are too tiny. be careful about these.

Power light on and beeping and no picture acer aspire t180

If your computer beeps when you turn it on you have a problem with your power supply, system board, graphics/video card or keyboard.
Reboot your system with out the keyboard if it no longer beeps your problem is a couple of stuck keys on the keyboard.
If the beeping continues remove your graphics card and reboot your system.
If your pc still beeps the it is either your power supply or the system board.

The POWER LED on the front of the tower should be solid Green, If Solid Amber or Flashing Amber, there is either a power or MB problem. On the back of the tower are 4 LEDs the when posting normally are all Green. If YYGG for example, then you have a memory failure. More information can be found at using the no post troubleshooter

Compaq Presaio S4200NX displays Compaq Splash Screen then a single continuous beep with but nothing else.

Most Compaq desktop that exhibits 1 long never ending beep indicates Memory error; Bad RAM. Corrective measure therefore would be replace and test.

You can try removing the memory and cleaning the gold pins with a pencil eraser and try again. If this doesn't work, guess you're back to replacing.

Good luck and kind regards.
