Question about Sierra Online, Inc. NASCAR Racing 2002 for Windows

4 Answers

NASCAR Racing 2002 Season PC game for Windows will not install on my computers (3 separate systems) once I click install or try using the run command.

I had recently received the NASCAR 2002 PC game in the mail and, when I attempted to install the game onto my desktop, the installer would not initialize. I then tried to install the game using the prescribed RUN command, which also did not work. I had no luck doing the same when trying to install the game on my laptop and backup pc as well. The game indicates it will function with Windows XP, which is what I have running on all three of my systems. All of these computers have more than the recommended specs for optimal performance of the game. Also, there appears to be nothing wrong with the game disc. It's as if there is some sort of process that isn't being told to run when the installation begins; the install screen comes up, I click on install, and then the screen disappears and the process appears to self-terminate, leaving me with performing the back-up RUN command which basically follows the same pattern of failing to install. Please let me know if there is some way I might be able to possibly get the installation to work.

I'm not sure if I am running it in administrator mode, but I have tried running the .exe setup as opposed to the autorun option in the game folder; both do not work. Also, what is an msi installer?

  • jacobamccull May 15, 2009

I installed the Windows hotfix at the link you indicated, restarted the computer, and tried to install by right-clicking on the Setup.exe and choosing Run as... and then selecting Administrator and still the program installation self-terminates. I did, however, notice that, within the NR2002 folder there exists the icon NR2002.exe, which I figured I might try out. It worked only to the point of my having to indicate my desired graphics, all possible settings of which it could not run...I usually use DIrect X 3D with the selection of my Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS graphics card and the 800x600 resolution; but even this did not work.

How do I run the game using Daemon Tools?

  • jacobamccull May 17, 2009

I successfully mounted the game using CloneCD to create the game image and Daemon Tools to mount it; however, when the install screen came up immediately after the image was mounted, the process self-terminated.

Have you tried to install in administrative mode? If not, when you put the cd in and it begins to start, click cancel. Then go into my computer, go to the drive that the disc is in, clivk explore, find the installer file on the disc, right click, run as, and choose administrator

Hi,
If the game is not installing on any of the three computers you have, the problem is with the installation disk. Is it a original game disc or is burned copy or downloaded copy. You can try downloading this software
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/home

It would run the game directly from the cd, instead of installing the same. If the same fails too, you would have to look for another copy of the game.

thanks

    Hi,

If the game did not mount and install as-well , then you need to download the game again. There is a problem with the game installer. Kindly look for another copy of the cd or download the game from a torrent . I would not be able to post the torrent link of the game on the forum as it would be against anti- piracy laws.

    Thanks

Hello friend

First let me know ...are you running setup in adminstrator mode??? Usually setup is not running in nonadmin mode..... well try couple of shoot on UAC off ( in case of Vista).

secondly explore your game folder and look for.exe and then run it instead of autorun file....Autorun file may be incomplete thats why game is automatically exit...

waiting for your reply

Since the game was released in 2002 it may have a few problems running on today's systems. I would first try running it in compatibility mode. Right click on the icon you use to launch the game and go to properties. From there click on the compatibility tab. Select the check box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and then from the drop-down box select Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Then click Apply and OK. Then try launching the game again and see if it runs any better. If not, try it again but in compatibility mode for XP (Service Pack 2). Good luck!

Cannot initialize video - new installation on more

Check these two things,

1. make sure you have latest directX drivers installed,
and
2. that your Video Card drivers are up to date.

the game box should tell you the minimum requirements.

to find out your Direct X version, you can goto Start > Run and type in 'dxdiag' without the quotes and press enter.
