Unable to turn off moniter

My Syncmaster731n will not allow any of the control buttons on the panel to be used.  a constant brightness box of 100% shows continually.  and the moniter will not turn off like it's frozen

SyncMaster731N... pop up boxes that cannot be clicked on... curser goes underneath the box. I have tried pushing all the buttons on the front panel and checking out the samsung website for help. I will try calling them. The MagicBright pop up is the most annoying since the display flickers with different degrees of brightness. The other pop ups are also annoying since they come up right in the middle of the screen and come and go sometimes quickly and sometimes very slowly.... HELP!!!

I just called SAMSUNG (1-800-SAMSUNG) and as long as you are under warranty, they will give you 3 options to in order to receive a new monitor and return the defective monitor. They even send you the new monitor first so you don't have to go without a monitor. No shipping charges... pleasure to work with.

I finally just gave up and called samsung. 1-800-samsung
they took me through some steps to see if that would work. gave them model number, etc. there is some defect apparently in that model syncmaster731n. they are sending me a new one, and i have to send the old one back. they are paying for shipping, and not charging me for the new one. so if it is bothering you, i would give them a call and see what they tell you. hope this helps someone out there.

Unable to connect with PC

double chec that the cables are plugged in correctly and then right click on your destop (windows) and go to the farthest right and there should be a little rainbow in the middle right and a box that represents your moniter near the top. go to the dropdown menu on the middle left and select either to use the tv as your main moniter a secondary moniter or a duplicate

I would like to reduce brightness on my ASUS VH242H

Actually, the problem isn't with the drivers. Right click on the battery icon in your system tray. Select "Power Options" (NOT Power4Gear eXtreme). On the right panel, select "Adjust the display brightness." Then, select "Change advanced power settings." Scroll down and open up the "Display" box. The options that are affecting your screen brightness on battery are "Allow SmartDimmer to reduce my brightness after," "Have SmartDimmer reduce my brightness by," and "SmartDimmer full-screen video mode." Playing with the percentages in these boxes will affect how your screen brightness adjusts itself. To get my screen to stop re-brightening itself, I changed "Allow SmartDimmer to reduce my brightness after/ On Battery:" to 100%. I then changed "Have SmartDimmer reduce my brightness by/ On battery:" to 0%. Finally, I set "SmartDimmer full-screen video mode/ On battery:" to Maximum Power Saving. This should solve your screen-rebrightening problems even with the 163.44 drivers (I use those too). Please Rate.
Thanks, Anand Fixya

Moniter brightness

Have you tried using the manual controls on the keyboard for changing the brightness (Fn right arrow)?
I think the epower management is crap, usually I just uninstall them all and adjust things manually.

sounds like your "brightness" button may be stuck. try pushing it and see if it feels the same as the other buttons (should feel it "click" a bit). Also see if any of the other buttons work, because if it IS stuck, they probably won't work...
