The computer should not need any software. Take it out.
Plug the camera in
The Scanner/Camera Wizard will come up and ask what yopu want to do.
Let Windoze do the work

My computer won't recognize my Praktica MicroPix: "USB Device Not Recognized". I have installed, uninstalled & reinstalled MYDSC several times, but no success. Any recommendations?

here are drivers.. they will work for up to XP .. they might also work in Vista (you may have to use XP compatibility mode) .. if you are using Vista or Win7 then you might want to try that with your present drivers ...

Vivitar 6150s pc cam not working on windows vista

The camera doesn't care what operating system you're using on your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Transferring pics to computer

Check the 'My Computer' for an unfamiliar drive; if as most PCs, you have a C:, D:, E: listed, these are the basics; C: & D: are the hard drive (partitioned), E: is whatever optical drive you have. You may have others such as several named drives for a digital card drive may be present too. Depending on how your camera's memory is recognized, you should have a drive you didn't before. Open the last named drive to see what (if anything) it shows for folders and files. If it brings up an error message about having nothing to read, work your way forward in the alphabet and check each. Customarily, Win will add any new drives at the end of the series of named drives.
If you find folders on a drive later in the alphabet, open them to look at the content. If you find a bunch of .jpg files, you are there.
If you find nothing, you may have to download an additional driver since the Praktica is not a real common camera, Vista may not have provided a default driver for it.

Check this website for updated drivers.

If the problem still exists, turn off you computer, connect the camera and restart the computer.

The operating system may install kind of a generic driver to allow you to access the camera a a simpkle 'mass storage device.'
If it finds and installs drivers, the camera will appear as a 'removable disc drive' that you can access as any other drive although you may have to open nested folders to see your pictures.

Can't install software for D53 on my new Vista PC

If it is older software, it is probably not made to run on Vista Operating Systems. I would check the market for something Vista compatible. Samsung might even have updated software on their website for purchase. But you might want to do some bargain hunting around the net first.
Or you could always just connect the camera to the computer and copy the pictures into the "My pictures" folder on your computer. And with Vista's "Windows Image Viewer" (or something of that nature) you can do basic things to the photos, like adjust brightness, contrast, or saturation. You could also crop the photos, and more. The Vista provided image viewer is probably equal to what you could do to photos in the software.

Praktica Slimpix & Vista Problem

I have heard that other people experience problems with un-available Vista drivers (not particularly your item)...either check camera's website for new driver, or wait it out until they write one or go back to XP
