SOURCE: protect error

The 'Protect' error means there is a DC voltage present in the output section(which should not be there). This can be caused by a defective output IC(the big IC on the heatsink). Disconnect the IC and see if the error goes away. Also check the resistors around the IC.

If you are a technician desolder the Audio amplifier IC,and check if the stereo turn on but with no sound. If the stereo turn on the audio amplifier IC is in short circuit and need to be replaced.
Good luck

How to remove the protect mode from sharp xl-mp60 stereo

The unit will go into protection mode when there is a short in the speaker wires or the unit was overloaded. Verify that none of the speaker wire connections are loose at the back of the unit or at each speaker. And verify that none of the wires are making contact with each other.

If it is, then remove the speaker wires and connect them again properly. After disconnection get the speaker wires, unplug the unit for 10 to 15 minutes or more. This will make the overload protection back to normal.

Try this and let me know what happens. I hope this would solve the issue

I want to connect my XL-DK255 to my TV (Sanyo DP26671). Please help!!!!
the only way to connect them is audio ...and you can either connect the Tv to the system ..(for better sound ) ..and in this case use the rca (left /right ) to rca (left right ) on the sharp ..if it supports..or ..use a double rca stereo cable ..with a jack 3.5 end ..and insert it in the audio input of teh sharp system ..
The signal from the Tv it will have to be taken from the audio out like in th epage 13 of the manual ..(it has a mono exit ..on rca probably ) and a left and right stereo one ..
If the sharp supports rca stereo in ...use it ..or ...just use the jack (3,5 stereo ) in ...and do not forget to select the proper channel ..
if the sharp system has a TV input channel for sound..on the receiver..use it ..and select the TV to playback the sound ..if it do not ..use the aux.. and selct the aux for control it ..
I do not believe you need to connect it in the other way cause it is not make any sense ..but the procedure is the same ..get audio signal from the system and insert into the audio in of the TV is in the same place and also available mono and stereo ..You will have to select the input in the tv menu..
The cable you need for a stereo connection I think will look like thi s..

XL-MP60 Shelf System: stereo shuts down and reads protect...

Hello, the problem of you stereo appliances been shut down was as result of a mechanism jam of the system.
The way you could do this is to open the back cover of the appliances and check for the rubber attached to the motor of the appliances, also check and see if you can adjust the mechanism if it is a disorder manner, it require a careful approach.
This will require a skilled personnel to handle this

Protect mode

I own a Sharp DVD Micro System XL=DV60 that began to have a "protect" error message when I crank up the volume. Not sure if this applies to your system, but it could be worth a try. Before you proceed, the solution requires you to open up your system (Do not proceed if the unit is still under warranty :)).
IF you are not experienced in opening up electronic equipment, I suggest you find somebody who does. The error on my system was caused by the cooling fan being stuck or not able to spin. The system has a sensor or sense circuitry wherein, when it detects that the "amplifier" IC heats up, it spins up the fan to cool it down. IF the system detects that the fan is not spinning during the cooling phase, it will give out the "protect" message. Note that the fan only spins when you crank up the volume. Less or 0 volume will shut down the fan due to it's "energy star" feature. One possible reason why using headphones does not show the error, since headphones require less energy that the main speakers, thus the amplifier IC does not overheat. To solve the problem, I cleaned out the dust in the system via a 1 inch wide paint brush (haven't tried the compressed bottled air used to clean computers BUT it might do) and nudged the fan. Played the system w/o a cover and observed the fan operation and so far it has solved the issue. I plan to lubricate the fan shaft with very small amount(less than a drop) of machine oil using a syringe. If it does not work, I plan to see if I could purchase a replacement motor for the fan...
Again, I have not seen the internal layout of CD-BA2100 and not sure if there is a cooling fan. But then again, it's better than having the "protect" error popping up. :) hope this helps....

Sharp XL-HP505 Not playing CDs

Hi try this.....

Put the system in standby (ie off but plugged in) then whilst pressing down the record button and the X-BASS/DEMO button, press the PRESET DOWN (i.e.left hand one) button until "CLEAR ALL" appears, then power on your system.

This gave me some functionality back i.e. i can play normal wave CD's but not mp3 ones....

Hope this helps

CD problem in Sharp Micro Component Shelf system XL-HP515

Compra un disco limpiador de lentes laser y puede que esto solucione tu problema ya que puede ser solo suciedad en el lente.
