Question about Fujitsu LIFEBOOK C4235 (FPC040201) PC Notebook

1 Answer

Fujitsu C4230 Lifebook distorted system sounds

My Fujitsu C4230 (same as the C4235, but lower grade) works fine in all respects, including playing music CD's, except for the fact that the system sounds (doesn't matter which theme or no theme) come out sounding like squeals and are distorted. I have tried every adjustment I can think of in Control Panel/Sounds and Multimedia but nothing works. It has been sitting for some time and I don't remember a lot about work-arounds in Win 98SE. Why would the CD player sound fine and the system sounds come out like they do? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

No, I haven't tried that yet as I will have to search for them on the net, download the driver, put it on a pen drive or a floppy disk, and then transfer them to the laptop. Wouldn't a bad driver also effect the CD ROM playback (music CD)? On the Fujitsu, the CD player can run independently from the rest of the system, making it a REAL expensive CD player. I know that the system sounds are wave files, but why don't they work and the CD player will blast you out of the room with it's volume and clarity? Both use the same audio sound card. But do the system beeps use the same speakers or the usual little piezo speaker that almost all computers have? Maybe, if separate, the piezo speaker is shot.

Hmmm.... Makes sense, now that I think about it. OK, I am off in search of drivers. Hope the one USB slot on the old girl still works. If not, out comes the external USB floppy drive (none built in on my Dell Dimension2400) burn to floppy, insert into the Fujitsu and hope for the best. I will post a new comment to this if sucessful or not. Getting late, might be tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

No listing for the Lifebook C4230 or the C4235 on Fujitsu site. Will search the Web. Thanks.

Still have the same problem, and yes, the CD ROM audio went away also when I totally removed the audio drivers before replacing them with the latest downloaded from Fujitsu. Now the CD ROM plays fine but system sounds are still squeals. Can't figure this one out. Also still can't use 32bit true color without the screen resizing down to 640 X 480 no matter what I do. Completely removed those drivers and replaced with the latest. No luck. Any help out there?

Don't think so. When I removed the drivers prior to installing new drivers, CD music, etc. went away also. After reloading new audio drivers, CD plays fine but still no system sounds.....all squeels. Can't for the life of me figure why the system sounds come out that way. Need a Win 98 CD to reload "sounds, themes" and maybe that would bring them back?

I believe the audio from the cd drive is made in the drive and passed through the sound circuit as an anolog signal.

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled your audio driver?

I can't find the driver for my build-in webcam on my Lifebook P8010. Please help.

Since I don't know which operating system you have, I've included links for the 3 most common Windows versions. You cannot click on the download button until you put a check in the box stating you agree to the terms of service.
Windows XP:

Windows Vista:
Windows 7: According to the manufacturer, the driver is included in the operating system.
I hope this helps and thanks for using Fixya!

My Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook t4220 is working fine overall. However my pen which was working fine will not function at all. Please advise on what I should do to ge it working again. Padraic.

Sounds like the pen packed up, they do that but normally become intermittent first. Without a source of another pen to determine the nature of the fault, may I suggest a modest solution.

A pen that will function and also be an acceptable fit in the slot is available on eBay, - See - # 140504970431. A good price, and an exceptional supplier. At least it will confirm a pen or a screen problem.

Should you have an original (or copy), of the System Restore disk, I would appreciate you getting in contact, mine got trashed. Paul W.

My Fujitsu Lifebook E7010 suddenly needs a password to go to setu

This sounds like an administrator password. Generally this p/w is left as password. Try password all lower case and try Password with capital P.
