Turn selector switch to volts D.C. and set range to next highest setting for the batteries you are wantimg to test. For example 25 volts if you are testing a 12 volt battery. Touch positive ,normally red probe on positive side of battery + sign,and negitive on - side, black probe. Hope this helps. Thanks

The battery is accessed by removing the screw on the back of the meter and carefully removing the cover. However, the back cover appears to remain attached, even after removing the screw. The trick is to squeeze both ends to release the two internal catches after the screw is removed. The cover then will easily pop off.
