Question about Mitsubishi WS-55819 55" Rear Projection Television

Problem with 480i

When the set is in 480i the color changes to a pinkish and there are vertical lines through the picture (top to bottom) approximately ever 1/2 inch.

When the set is in 780p there are horizontal lines for about a second and you cannot tell what is on the screen, then the screen turns completely blue.

480p and 1080i work just fine.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This problem has been around for awhile.

The 2HDW PCB needs to be replaced. Part number 935C966001. It sits on the signal board underneath a metal shield.

Not a bad repair and remember to unplug the set if you are going to do it yourself.

No picture just on line in the middle left to right

I know the line is horizontal but the problem is in the "Vertical" circuit of the set that deflects the picture from the middle of the screen to the top and bottom.

Only a few easy possible reasons for this.

1) set has developed bad solder connections in the vertical output circuit--it happens as a normal thing and most sets like this the picture will have opened and closed before going to just a line.

2) a part in the vertical output circuit is bad---most common is a IC chip for output. Not real hard to get at or replace and is inexpensive.

If it is as stated here a 27 inch set it may not be economical to fix and cheaper to just consider replacing it.

Let me know if you have questions.

Parallel vertical lines through left side of Panasonic Plasma tv

This sounds like one of the driver boards at the bottom or top of the screen has an intermittent fault. The set will have to be taken in to a service centre.

1 inch lines on top and bottom of screen

Is the picture overall too small by 1 in. on top and bottom? Or is it cut off by the lines?

If it's too small, look for an adjustment labeled Vertical Height. This may only be accessible internally, it's normally a service adjustment, not a user adjustment.

Your problem is a vertical deflection issue, either an adjustment or the vertical circuit requires repair by a technician. In the latter case, electrolytic capacitors are a likely cause.

Vertical colored lines on top and bottom of screen

Definately a video processing problem and it may need a logic board it is called. Does the set work fine if you feed component into set to bypass all that? Let me know. GURU JAY

Vertical, pencil-thin blue line appears after 10 minutes of viewing (any source)

I would suspect a connection breaking down as the set heats up. A shop will probably have to put the set in a stand to hold it while they check for loose connections or defective components inside. Not a DIY job by any means. If this line went completely through the picture either vertically or horizontally and stayed there then this would have indicated a failure in the Panel itself. A thin Line any where on the screen consisting of one pixel in width is a Panel Failure according to Hitachi.
