Question about Canon I960 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Muddy, unsaturated prints

My printer has begun to print desaturated, muddy looking prints. I don't use it that often. I cleaned the printer heads, changed all the ink cartridges at once, even though most were half full. Still, when I print a photo, it looks like it was bleached in the sun for 2 years (lots of yellow/brown). Why would this happen and how can I fix it?

Canon pro 9000 printing not printing vibrant colors

I've had 5 Pro9000 & Pro9000 II's so far. Mechanically sound and fairly heavy duty. Mostly by default they print muddy or muted, with unsatisfactory reds and yellows. The default settings usually suck. I have had to develop my own driver settings and save them to printer profiles for individual situations. There is a lot of control in the driver settings and I recommend making your own color charts for reference, displaying the settings on each page. I also recommend regular nozzle checks and calibration. Avoid cleaning via the driver utility as this wastes a lot of ink, which is all deposited on the bottom of your printer and eventually has to be dealt with. Instead, remove and soak the head. Completely dry before reinstalling.

I have replaced the cartridge cleaned the nozzle heads but my photos are a funny fuzzy colour. It is about 18mts old and hasn't been used much Thanks

It's a EPSON printer, you have to use it at least twice a month, otherwise the ink on the print heads will dry and clog them. If the printer cleaning process doesn't solve the issue, you'll have to take it to the service center to get the print heads replaced.

The preview colors do not match the actual print.

This is usually a cartridge issue. If that doesn't work, then try cleaning the printer head. Make sure that there is paper in the input tray. On the product control panel display, touch the tools icon. Touch Tools and then touch Clean Printhead . The product calibrates, cleans, and aligns the printhead and then prints a test page. Xerox 8550 Light Stripe after Jet Substitution & Muddy Yellow

Time to buy another printer. The Print Head will cost you 800-900 plus the labor to install. This printer is a crime that isn't prosecuted. This should be a $100 part and they make it more expensive than a new machine. Don't even try to make Xerox eat it. It will cost you more in sleep. Look to another manufacturer.

Xerox Phaser 6250 started printing bad

That really sounds like the imaging unit cleaner has an issue.
If you have one try the imaging unit, I really suspect that is your problem.
Black is Faded or Missing Step 1 Clean the Laser Windows and Remove Excess Toner From the Imaging Unit Step 2 Check or Replace the Imaging Unit Gear Retaining Pin Step 3 Replace the Imaging Unit (installation instructions) ic-film.gif
See if this link works. Xerox is infameous for these not working.
