Question about Whirlpool GGQ8858J Dryer
The first thing to check is the fuse in the back. Take the front panel off the dryer and bypass this fuse, JUST TO CHECK! Don't leave it that way, this is a safty themostate, number 42 in the diagram on the link i am sending you....that will need to be replaced if the dryer starts heating once you bypass it, (do all this checking with the dryer unplugged). If that is not the problem check
the ignighter, number 4 in the diagram but under the burner assembly subcomponents list. If neither of those two are bad check your booster coils,...when they are bad you usually have an intermittent heat not heat problem and finally there are some thermostats in the dryer that could have gone out not allowing the heat to come on at all. Last but not least the problem with your gas dryer could be in the timer...this is rare though and you need to rule out the rest first. I do recommend a service call if you are not familiar with working on gas appliances but if you are comfortable the two most probable parts will be the 8318268 and/or 279311 try this to start and write back and let me futher assisst you if all of the things I have listed have checked out good...here is the link...good luck!...http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=GGQ8858JQ0&productCategoryId=0151200&brandId=1198&modelName=GAS-DRYER&diagramPageId=00003&componentDescription=BULKHEAD&documentId=P0050021&backToLink=Return to Sub Components list
