My phone is locked in hot sync mode

I had the same problem with my phone a few months back. I took the battery and sim card out of my phone for a few days and then put them back in and it worked. I still have problems with my phone but not with the hotsync feature.

IN PREFERENCES GO TO PERSONAL/BUTTONS THEN AT THE BUTTON LOOK FOR HOTSYNC PRESS IT THEN ON CABLE CHANGE IT TO PHONE; IT MIGHT BE THE PHONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HOTSYNC CABLE CONNECTION. NOW IT DOES GO TO HOT SYNC INSTEAD IT GOES TO PHONE. NOW I'M TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT MY PHONE STILL USEFUL.

use the palm quick install and browse through picture files and add them. You will need to first of all put the hot sync cable on your phone then hit the button on the cable connector, give it some time, if you still cant do it, read below

if it says it cant connect, go to hot sync on the home and then below the hot sync button ON THE SCREEN, Where you see switch the IR to a PC/handheld click it and go to the second option. If that still doesent work, on your PC go to all programs then look for palm, go to that file and click hot sync now the hotsync is turned on the computer then after that do all the steps in the first paragraph.

I went into the HotSync Manager and changed the settings to Desktop overwrites handheld. That did the trick!

Did it actually reset when you did a hard reset ..or does it stay powered up?

Yes. Look through all of your apps for "Hotsync" when you open this, you will see the normal screen that comes on when you push the hotsync button. touch the hotsync logo button on the screen and it should work. Hope this helps.

If u need to make connectivity between computer and Palm mobie then u need to install hot sync software on ur Pc and activate hotsync option from ur mobile then with cable u can transfer the data . if u  not have proper software of hotsync then download it from palm Site.

I changed so that the desktop over-rides the handheld and the hot sync went through. This is not the way I perfer this, but it worked. I have not switched it back to sync the files yet to see what would happen.

Hi, Right click on hotsync manager at the bottom right corner of the pc , make sure only local serial and ir is having a check mark , if anything else has check mark , just go to that and do a left click , it will get unchecked . On the handheld tap on home , on the main page u will see hotsync icon , tap on that , on the hotsync page make sure via ir , and not cradle or cable , then at the top u will see hotsync in words , tap on that , in the drop down u will see lan sync pref, tap on that and make sure lan sync is highlighted , and not local hot sync , since local hotsync is usefull only when u perform cradle or cable hot sync using usb , then click on ok , try a hotsync . If this doesnt help and again u get the same error , do a soft reset on the handheld and on the pc , go into hotsync manager , click on setup , choose local , change the com port to a different port and reduce the speed to 9600 , click on ok restart the pc and again perform a hotsync . The error u got was coz of this , on ur pc a ir port is not been assigned .. Try this it should work .. Regards

It may be due to a permissions issue on the workstation running the hot sync program
