2 x green (1 with black tracer) left rear spkr (black= negative)

It would be helpful to know the unit and colours you have. Does the stereo have a universal connecting block, have you tried to get a user manual from the maker? Is the car colours or stereo colours the problem. If its the car use a volt meter, 'shell' the earth and check for power and switched and illumination

My jvc stereo will not power up but have found the black wire is live ?

hi peter, before you start using the rest of the harness cables find out if the harness you have is a jvc original for your model. the black wire is the ground/chassis cable only for a jvc kd-r411. you mite be using a compatible fitting harness whose " wire colour configuration" is incorrect for your model. cheers.

Trying to put a new stereo in my holden astra 1989 but the colours on my deck do not match the original colours on car stereo

you should try trial and error, for example test the wires on your car with a power tester and find your power when you do hook it up tp the power wire on your car. after you get the stereo turned on you test your speaker wires with the right & left functions on your stereo and the front and back functions on it untill you figure out wich go,s to wich.
