If you put regular paper in the tray as it is asking does the printer use the regular paper to print the picture? If so, be sure the 4x6 photo paper tray (with photo paper) is pushed all the way in, and when you select print there should be an option (probably hidden in a submenu) to select the photo tray as the paper source. If you are printing from Adobe Acrobat, I have not found a reliable way to get the c6180 to use the photo paper tray.
I hope this helps.
Two things to check for a problem like this: 1) Driver Settings: If your computer's drivers are telling the machine to pull from the bypass tray it'll ignore the machine settings. You're kind of on your own here figuring it out, if you can't though then try deleting the printer from the computer and re-installing it (will default settings)
2) Manual Feed sensor: When you put paper into the bypass try you're activating a flag which tells a sensor there's paper there, if this flag is stuck forcing the sensor to constantly think you have paper there it would always to pull from there. Find the flag, move it back and forth, hit it with some air from a can of air.
MP tray is not the cassette it this flap that pulls down above it.
The machine will revert to asking to place paper in its MP tray when the information it is receiving about the document from whatever program tell it that the size is not the same as what the cassette is set to...
so, check page size in of document in word program or whatever you are using
also check paper type and size settings match those you just checked in the printers properties under printers in control panel.
If you put a piece of paper in the MANUAL BYPASS TRAY bot the cassette it will print on that.
To get evverything back to normal, turn off printer, delete jobs in print que, change paper size of document in word/excell/etc is set same as paper type in printer, print again.. all should be good...
p.s. these are good quality printers that why I bother to answer you... cheers
Maybe you need to insert properly the papers on your printer. Let it move closer to the paper holder. If problem still occurs, try restarting the printer for 3 times.
another option is reinstalling the driver of the printer. Pm me if problem still persists.
its not the problem of toner cartridge.its the problem of gears which pulls the paper they r worn out or may be cracked internally.exactly what happens when you u give the print for the first time the printer gets command and the gears starts spinning and the paper gets pulled because it gets a pressure internally and after 2 pages that pressure gets low and it stops pulling the paper.some times changing the paper thickness solves the problem temporvarily .i mean use the thick quality paper instead of thin.
Try to power down the printer (including unplugging it from the wall) then take out the paper trays. From there, reseat the tray guides (so pull them all the way in, then all the way out). From there replace the paper in the tray, and then re-align the guides to the paper. Plug it in, and then try a test print.
Hi there it may just be that the paper tray springs are not pushing the paper higher enough not making contact with the paper detect sensor arm. Or the sensor arm is broken and will need replacing. Check the tray springs also check the sensor arm you will see it if you remove the cassette and look inside there will be a black plastic lever hanging down when you put paper in this lever should go up as the paper acts as a barrier thus telling the machine that there is paper in it.
