I have a Samsung Model Number HL-T5887S that will not turn on when I push the power button. It makes the start up melody, and the lamp under the power button is on, and the far right red, green, and green led lights blink. It will also do the strt up chime a few times in a row.

It's simple. Your TV does not like you. Perhaps you need to speak kindly to it before you force it to watch BBC for hours. Buy it a scone.

SOURCE: WILL NOT POWER ON, STANDBY, LED, TIMER LIGHTS ARE BLINKING.

Check the capacitors on the power supply first. If any have domed tops or signs of leakage, replace them. I had two go bad on mine. Call electronics parts supply stores first as these are not your average capacitors.

SOURCE: Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

TV turns on but lamp never comes on. Seems to try 3 times then all 3 led's on front start flashing. I tried to replace the lamp but problem remains.

If the Lamp has been replaced then problem will be either Lamp Fan or Ballast board .
Ballast board connects to Lamp and it is what powers Lamp on.

Lamps Prices depend on where you buy.$85.00 up to $300.00 Look on E-Bay under Electronics/ Lamp number-BP

Mats Electronics has them for $99.00

TV Stopped turning on.

Apparently you can fix the issue by replacing a few faulty capacitors. I haven't done this yet, but plan to try it out next week.

Samsung 42 inch projection

HLP, HCN HL-S The Start-up Problem or/and
3 LEDs in the front blinking.

Unplug the set, pull out the lamp module (not all the way - leave it on the track) and push it back in.

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.
