Which program are you useing?

its possible your mic is on mute so no sound gets throught.
check the speaker icon next to your clock

then press settings and properties and click on regording. then ok. then make sure the microphone is not muted and the sound level is high enought.

My tas cam ld-74 will not record me at all i can here me thru my headset but i cannot record with my recording software

If you can hear the mike with your headset, I would assume that there is no electronic problem. Check the disk space on your PC to see if the disk is full (a full disk would prevent the software from recording). Check to see if you have the output file defined and targeted to a disk drive that has free space.

I have a Fender Passport 150 and my microphone is won't work but everything else does......????? Thanx Mike

Mike try the microphone if possible on another set If the mike makes a noise check for frayed and bad cables. As far as I know the mike is a dynamic mike and connect it to the speaker of a small transistor radio and it should a small speaker for dynamic mikes and ordinary speakers work just the one as a generating device(Speaker) and the other as a sound pick up Look at small to way radio's the send is the speaker a mike and on receive it is a speaker, Hope this help

How can you check if a microphone is working properly

A simple functional check is to connect the microphone to an amplifier with the appropriate cable. You'll hear your voice if the mike is working properly (assuming, of course, that the amp, cable and speaker are all good as well), and will be able to hear any gross distortion or other defects. If you want to know if the mike is working strictly to technical specifications (output level, frequency response, etc.), you would need access to the required test equipment for measurement.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

I can hear my voice in my headsets..its very loud..if I blow into the mic..its like an actual live mic

all headsets feature what I think is called side tone. you need to hear a bit of yourself when speaking on a microphone as a bit of communication reassurance. When thew microphone level is up way too loud , that's more than side tone, it's annoyance that's when you get the problem that you've listed. I've seen it on telephone headsets and Mobile Phones but i'm sure it would happen on gaming headsets too...
Good Luck

Microphone not working

To locate the source of your problem (with the information available):

Try your mic on a different recording device. Something simple like a tape recorder.
  • If it works, the problem lies in the your recording system.
  • If it doesn't, The mic is the problem.

Try a known working mic on your system.
  • If it works, the mic is the problem.
  • If it doesn't, the problem lies in the your recording system.
Thats about all I can give you with the info provided.
If these tests point to the mic, replace it. If they point to your recording device/system/whatever, more details will be necessary to effectively troubleshoot your problem.

Hope this helps,
