not sure what the question is here? as far as the remote goes ,no. you should be able to push buttons on the tv unit it self to get to the position where you have plugged in the the ps2. if you want to hook a ps2 to a tv, you need to red, yellow&white cables (know as av/rca cables) usally it will say somthing like video 1, video 2 or side av, ect... this would be where the tv will be displaying the ps2 signal..
if you dont have any button anywhere on the tv and your comcast universal wont change it then maybe you will need to nuy the one for you tv...
First of all check the remotes. You can easily check the remote is it working or not. Justpoint the remote to a digital cameras or a mobile camera and press any button . If the remote is functioning then you can see a white light blinking.
If the remote is working , then the IR receiver of your TV have some problem. you can find the IR receiver it the frond pannel pcb of your tv. i have added a picture of ir receiver. will help you to find out the same. if you need any more assistance feel free to contact me throughfixya.

This is for silver remote with 'on-demand' button.
The manual for the remote is available on comcast.com somewhere.
there is an auto search method....some remotes you can hold the tv button down and then the select button simultanteously for a few seconds to make the light turn red and then proceed with codes, when you get the right code you press the select button again, the light blinks and you are done..... well with out a code its the luck of the draw..... the auto search method is similar to programming the code in....hold the tv button and the select button for a couple seconds until the tv button lights up, but instead of a code.....press the channel up button(that represents the first autosearch code), continue until the tv turns itself off and then press the select button to lock it into the remote...........if you go past the trigger point you can channel down to backtrack.... otherwise drop it in the toilet until it wont work, call the cable company and have them send out a tech with anew remote. they cant charge you for their equipment not working correctly. trust me, i am a supervisor at a major cable company.
No problem, This issued will be only resolve with regular TV's, not LCD or PLASMA Tv's. Just press TV botton locate on the top leftside of the remote, right after hold the SETUP button for 3 seconds once the TV botton blink twice go and press 991 then 1 again, right after you have pressed 991 the TV botton will blink twice and when you press 1 will blink twice as well, after those steps keep pressing the channel up botton until your Tv shut off. That will work. Good luck
The remotes you get from the cable company are universal and kinda cheap. ive ran across this multiple times but since i dont know what model remote you have the only advice i can give is that the code you used is not the right code if it doesnt do all basic functions (on,off for the tv,volume)its just the wrong code if the codes you stated are the only ones available the book you got with the remote should explain how to run an auto scan.hope i was some help
Most univ. remotes have a search mode if code entry won't work-
Do you have the comcast instructions ? Something like.....

2) Push set-up or program on remote
3)Touch tv button on remote
4) Point remote at TV and push power off. Repeat until TV turns off.............then
5)Push enter to save....
