On a cold start i have no high idle for warm up

On my 03 dodge 1500 slt 5.9 the temp outside is -10 my truck will start but on low idle about 950 rpms i know that it should idle up for few min for warm up, i have replaced the IAC but still wont give me a high idle for warm up

Coolant temp sensor and intake air temp sensor would be the next to check.intake air temp sensor is in the air intake tunnel between TB air air box. when running is there a DTC? by disconnecting the coolant temp sensor you put the ecm values at default try that if it corrects your issue replace it.(it will turn your check engine light on but you can clear later by disconnecting battery)

Just finished fixing my daughters 1999 taurus heat. It would blow warm only when running down the road. At idle it blew cold. I started with replacing thermostat, and water pump because they are the easier fix. Still did not help. Then I replaced the heater core. A daunting job but not that hard to move the dash slighly out of the way to replace. There is a good write up at tarusclub.com. After that, heat was better but at idle, it would still blow cool sometimes. Researched and found answer. Park car on the steepest hill you can find with front of car up. Start car and take off reservoir cap. Let car warm up and keep rpms about 1500. After a while the fluid will come running out of the car and all over the place but it will bring air bubbles with it. Reduce rpm, add more fluid and repeat about 3 times. It will make a mess but after that, the heater works perfectly. We get heat long before the temp gage indicates any and it never blows cold unless you lower the temp.

I had this problem once on an econoline van and it was the plantum gasket but before you change this check all the vacuum lines and get a digital volt meter and test the voltages on the mass air flow sensor and if you have to change the plantum gasket auto zone can print you out a diagram stating all you have to remove to replace it

SOURCE: Cold days 94 f-150 high rpm start

probably is a emissions sensor problem, lots of these parts are plastic. check out the throttle cables, lub em wd40. there is a type of valve somewhere on top of engine, it may be cracked, pcv valve stuck. lots of possibilities, almost too much for solution online. something emmissions with an electronic sensor is acting up.

SOURCE: 2001 v6 escape rough idle when cold

To update my earlier repair on the 2001 6 cyl Escape: When cold, and when the ignition was turned over but no accelerator pressure given, the rough idle finally returned the P0303 code again when the check engine light came on indicating that it wasn't caused by the plugs or the coil. FYI, I had replaced the intake manifold gaskets during the original repair and just prior to that I had replaced the fuel filter which was very dirty (I cut it open to see).

The repair manual referred to fuel injectors as a possible problem. I have run three tanks of fuel using different injector cleaning products and am very pleased with the results. Cold starts are much smoother and I am unable to coax out the P0303 code or any other code.

My opinion, change the fuel filter, use a fuel injector cleaner for a couple of tanks, change the plugs if the problem still exists. The coils were not the problem on my vehicle.

SOURCE: cold weather won't idle, engine dies

Please check your idle controller whch is normally located near the air intake.Sometimes cleaning them and putting them back solve this problem.
