Connector for keyboard on a acer travelmate 4220

On the Acer Travelmate 4220 there is a small connector on the motherboard that holds the ribbon cable from the keyboard in place. I believe it is called a zero force connector. This is the connector for the ribbon cable that goes from the keyboard to the motherboard. the connector is small and white. it has a small lip on each side to snap it in place. I have been searching all over for this. Where can I get this and what is it called?

I just call it the annoying super thin and fragile piece of plastic that holds the cable in place.

You CAN'T get it anywhere. The ONLY thing you can do is try to find another dead motherboard on eBay for parts.

When you do get a board be very VERY careful when you try to remove it from the dead board. If you even look at it the wrong way, it will break ;)

Best of luck!

ACER TRAVELMATE 602TER: NEED TO REPLACE CMOS BATTERY. WHERE IS IT LOCATED? IF UNDER KEYBOARD, HOW DO I LIFT THE KEYBOARD (I DON'T SEE ANY SCREWS OR A FRAME AROUND THE KEYBOARD!) THE ONLY PIECE...

most netbooks allow the keyboard to be lifter out ,,upwards after inserting a thin piece of plastic/screwdriver at the reccommended points around the keyboard, usually there are tiny sprung clips that need to be pushed, you can hardly see them ,be carefull if you manage to lift the board out be gentle and do not tug or force it as it will be connected with a ribbon type cable to a very fragile plastic clip/socket.
Even this socket/clip will have another plastc sprung device holding the ribbon cable in so be carefull with it.
The CMOS battery is just like a watch battery held to the motherboard with a steel sprung clip, you might have to unscrew the motherboard first rarely this battery might be soldered in place so you might need to have an iron handy.

Acer 4600 travelmate. my keyboard does not work

Try to plug in an external keyboard and see if that works.
Then if it does, go to Run and type in OSK, which will bring the on screen keyboard up, see if you can use the mousepad to type in using the OSK.

Have you spilt anything on the laptop, or done any dismantling? If so, you need to remove the keyboard and check there is no residue on the connector as it meets the motherboard, that there are no kinks or cinches in the cable and that the ribbon cable is tight in its clip

I have a broken cd/dvd drive on travelmate 4200

Should be,just make sure they have the same connector on the same side. Also, look at the front bezel & see if there's any interference after it's in.

Acer travelmate 342t CMOS Battery bad, How do I

it is inside,on the motherboard,it is a watch type battery or a vinyl coated battery pack that plugs in the board,if it is the watch battery type,be carefull removing it.the holder can break off the motherboard very easy, might be able to get to it by removing the plastic piece above the keyboard that surrounds the power button, otherwise dissassembly will be necessary

Replace Keyboard for Acer Laptop 2414WLCi

Hey,
Here it is step by step. (Depending on make and model, disassembly may vary slightly.)
1) Remove the battery.
2) Remove ALL of the screws from the bottom of the laptop.
3) Remove any screws on the back of the laptop.
4) Fold the screen back as far as possible then remove the small plastic caps on the hinges.
5) Remove the piece above the keyboard, with the power button on it.
6) Lightly lift up the keyboard and underneath it you will find a ribbon cable attached to the motherboard, detach the keyboard and replace it with the new one.
7) Do exactly the opposite of what you just did to reassemble.

:) Hope I helped!

Replace the keyboard easily available for cheap. Get full manual at Acer website but replacement is easy, be careful of the clips holding the connection to the motherboard, don't remove just slide upward to release..
