Hi there.
Scanning the system with AVG or any other anti virus software will not get rid of the dreaded 2009 antivirus virus, what jkpf says is the long winded way round and you could get confused as he says to manually edit the registry which is really for advances PC users like administrators or power users.
I personally found that performing a system restore gets rid of the virus provided you got to it in time.
Click on the start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools and then system restore, take the computer back to around a week before you think the virus infected your computer.
When the PC restarts it may say that the restore failed but if you look you find that the antivirus 2009 has gone.
To make sure its properly gone perform a deep scan with your antivirus software,
Please post back the results.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Download AVG Free edition from another computer. Burn it or transfer it to a usb thumb drive and install it onto the computer. Run the scan and that should take care of your problem. You can download it from:

What disabled my network connection, and how can i download a virus protector if i cannot access the internet?

Depending what internet connection your using, dsl, cable,or wireless,. if its wireless you probably disabled your wifi , to re enable it push the wifi button, or right click the lower right hand corner with the two screen icons and connect to a network..
The only way to install an antivirus is if you go to the store and buy the antivirus program and just put it on your computer,, the only problem is you wont be able to update your virus definitions, i recommend getting internet if you want to get the best out of a antivirus....

Norton Internet Security 2009 Causes Blue Screen of Death.

Hi there
Thats Norton for you! this is a very heavy and memory hungry program, it takes control of your computer and if you have not got enough system or virtual memory it will cause the pc all kinds of problems. To fix this either upgrade the system memory or don't use Norton, use AVG free instead, its a lighter program and lets you have some speed back over the internet.

good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

My computer has this pop up antivirus 2009 warning me its found 36 problems if i dont purchase i will loss data it will not allow me to delete it either

DO NOT buy this! Regardless of who it's from it's nothing but spyware. No reputable company would do this!
Go to www.filehippo.com and download AVG Free 8.0 anti-virus (Best anti-virus in my opinion by far) and install it. Also get A-Squared Free at the same time. It will find and stop what's giving you this message. There's no need for any repair or for you to buy ANYTHING!
If your'e using Windows XP Sp.2 or Vista you will need to disconnect from the internet (just to be extra safe) and open your control panel and click on "security center" then go down to anti-virus and click on 'recommendations' and check the box about "I have anti-virus I'll monitor myself" before you can install the new programs. Just follow their instructions and you should never have this problem again.
