Replacing the belt on the yard machine. The belt wears out fast, something seems to be causing the belt to be out of line or something.

Check for weak spring on tensioner pulley, belt could be slipping. Also check belt guides and make sure bearing on shaft pulley is not worn. grease if needed.

What could be causing the loud shrieking noise on spin only? It's also making a little bumping noise - not a lot, but it's there.

It is usually the bearings that cause the shrieking noise if you have a belt on it it could be needing straightened on the pulley and if you take the belt off and try and turn the drum and listen to see if it is the bearings slightly grinding they may have got water into them. The only other unit is the motor. The bumping noise can be caused if maybe a sock or something that can get between the drum and the casing also some washing machines have shockers and some have springs on top that can break through time and wear and this causes it to be unbalanced.

I have a Craftsman 54" deck lawn tractor my mower belt keeps twisting causing it to fall off

There has to be somewhere along the line of the belt that is rubbing when it is engaged. Sometimes something on the coverings gets bent and causes friction on the belt and wears it down quickly.

I have a yard cruiser blade clutch engages then slows down when it gets under a load to the point of stopping let cool down same thing

Most likely it's a worn out pto clutch (electric blade clutch) one is a warner brand and one is ogura for this line. but first you should check two things:

1. Belt condition and tension (It should be pretty snug
2. make sure your battery is putting out at least 12 volts, you may try a new battery or have the battery tested for free at a local auto parts store. If they find the battery is low, your charge circuit may have a problem. If they find the battery is fine, and the belt is good, it's probably time for a new clutch. I say check the battery first because even if you replace the clutch and the battery is worn out, it will actually wear out the clutch quite fast. This is a common reason for the clutch to wear prematurely.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You do need to check the motor drive. Make sure the belt is not slipping or worn. That could be the case. It may be wearing out as you have suggested. You just need to get to it and determine the cause.

Hi, i have a 20 inch 12 amp yard works snow thrower. the problem i now have is under heavy load of snow, the impeler stops turning, but the electric moter keeps running. under a lite load it works as it...

Does the impeller have a clutch control so that the motor continues to run, but the impeller/auger stops? If so, then clutch travel adjustment should fix the problem. If there are no obvious adjustments to a clutch-less drive, then shifting the motor position should tighten the belt. If the motor position is fixed, then replacement of the belt seems to be the only option. Wear at the sides of the belt can cause slippage. Hope this helps!

My craftsman mower runs fine, but it wont cut. it seems like the blades are not turning fast enough to cut. is this a bad belt, or something else?

check for belt wear *(the edges of the belt look frayed or scrubbed down?) and also look at the belt tensioner for wobbly/loose pulleys.

With the engine off have someone move the engagement lever while you look underneath at the belt to see which pulley is taking up the belt slack so you can then determine if this pulley has any issues.

If this mower is fairly new it is probably just belt wear. New belts are typically 20-30 dollars to replace. Less any labor.

Good luck and be careful!

The ratchet mechanism is damaged and it must be replaced. Know that most salvage yards will not sell you this part as it is a serious liability. Safety belts are no place to short cut. This will be a dealer only part most likely unless you can find a aftermarket replacement.

What causes this? Wear and tear over time or an accident.

I have a 1986 Olds Cutlass Ciera with a 2.5l 4

Remove the belt from any pulley. Go from pulley to pulley and make sure they are all free wheeling obviously you won't be able to turn the crank pulley. Spin your alternator pulley and listen to it. It should be silent and smoothe. If you hear any bearing noise from the tensioner, the alternator, the AC comppresor, I would do this soon, you've spent on belts what an alternator would cost. Also check the idler pulley if this is a serpentine type belt.

I did the same thing. I replace the belt that turns the blades. The pressure of the impact had stretched the belt and was slipping on the pully that engages the blades. Try that first and check the other belts for tension, wear and condition....Also make sure all springs are attached, not stretched, and in good shape...Hope this is helpful....Joe
