sorry he is right. you can really only replace it. But, my question is, if you are a Cox cable customer, and thats a Cox cable modem, why aren't they replacing the modem for free? Or is the modem yours, and not Cox?

If its their modem make them replace it for free or risk losing a customer.

Sorry I didn't have a suggestion for repairing the modem.

Only way is with the help of your ISP. The modem can be reset to affect the changes you require. Its software settings need to be reset to optimum values. And generally download/upload speeds are almost equal.............sodeep

Up load speed slow

First I would go to one of the websites below to do a true speed test on your internet connection. If in fact you are getting low connection speeds, then you may try contacting the service provider. Not sure where you got the upload speeds from.... Here is a list of some of the other issues that could cause low up/down load speeds.1. Other devices connected off of the modem. 2. High volume of traffic, usually during the evening hours when everyone is home from work.3. A application running in the background. (email, 20 webpages open, etc...)4. When in doubt blame the carrier. lol. 5. Google your model cable modem to see if others have had the same issue??6. Sometimes a firmware or update is available for network devices. You can check by going to the RCA website\Techsupport
Hope this helps, good luck.

Firmware upgrade for Speedstream SS2602 wireless router, we have upgraded our internet access speed to 12/5 with COX Cable and we can only get 5.5/2.5 speed. When we hook directly to COX modem we get 23/5...

The information may be a bit misleading. What COX said about DOCSIS version is for cable modem standard. The higher the number the better the speed. However, it seems that the modem is already getting THAT speed. Some other device (perhap SS2602) is slowing it down.
It seems that SS2602's WAN side only support 10Mbps connection, which, in term, limit the speed to 10Mbps each way. The actual throughput may be even lower. Should that be the case a new router would be recommanded.

I run 3 computers connected to the internet using the Linksys EtherFast EZXS55W 5x10/100 switch. Switch is connected to COX cable broadband. Any issues with "crashing" on this switch? Seems...

Hi, I would recommend downloading the latest firmware for this device and then se if your "crashing" goes away.
If you plug directly into the cox modem do you have problems?
If that doesn't work I would replace the Cat 5e network cable from the switch to the cox modem.
If that doesn't work replace the coax cable from the cox modem.
If you continue to have issues replace the switch.

I am on Cox cable. I lost my connection to the internet several times this evening. Cox checked out my modem and said the problem was in the router. When I connect modem to computer, internet pops up...

Cox people are really correct that everything is working from them and from there modem and doing a firmware update is really a good thing to do to correct your problem. For that firmware update you just need to download it from your routers manufacturer like Linksys , Belkin , Dlink or Netgear just go to there web site and search the model of your router so you can download the latest firmware for it.

How do I find out the Kbps of my orange livebox modem?

Open up Internet Explorer or Firefox or whatever you're using. Go here and select the nearest location to you, and it will tell you what your upload and download speeds are. If your wanting to know the speed capabilities of your modem, the only limit that there could be is how much bandwidth you purchased on your plan from Internet Service Provider i.e. Cox, ATT, Comcast. Good Luck!

P.S. generally speaking, cable will provide significantly faster speeds than DSL. Likewise, DSL provides much faster speeds than dial up. But it all depends on which package you purchase and how much your willing to pay.

Ethernet speed changes from normal to zero

If you have high speed internet go to your ISP webpage and do a speed test. If You are paying for say like 10 MEGS and are only pulling 1.2 Megs. It probably is your modem. Your speed will slow down to approx 7.5 behind a router. Also Your ethernet cable might need replacing. might also might try resetting your router. disconnect all power even the cable comming in and reset everything. Hope that helps.

Well i had just bought a lynksys router from my friend with no software cd so right now i am trying to download the software online so when i switch my cox modem with the linksys modem i want the software...

You should be able to get any software that you need from LinkSys.com but I have a couple of quick questions first:

1. Is the LinkSys unit you just purchased a router or modem?

If the unit is a router, you are still going to need a Cox compatible modem. If the unit is a modem, you will still need a router to complete the network setup unless LinkSys makes a combination cable router/modem, and I haven't been able to research one.

2. If it is a modem, is it a cable modem and, if it is, is it Cox compatible?

According to the Cox Web Site, the only models of LinkSys modems that are currently compatible with the Cox High Speed Cable Internet Service are:

BEFCMU10 v3
BEFCMU10 v4
WCG200
WCG200 v2
CM100

In this particular case, you may need to contact LinkSys and/or your Internet Service Provider. In most cases, they will not only tell you exactly what type of equipment you need, they will also talk you through setting up the network once you have the equipment - usually at no charge.

CAN A 2WIRE DSL ROUTER WORK WITH A CABLE INTERNET CONEECTION

The 2wire dsl modem/router cannot be use with a another cable modem , since this 2wire device is also a modem/router and its made for the DSL conenction that's why it wont work with Cox cable, the best thing that you can do is to ask Cox to give a wireless modem/router like this 2wire so you can still use the wireless connection of your computer..

Hope that helps..........

Wizard software installation

You can disable this piece of software within the windows registry or from the "Start", "All Programs", "Start Up" folder.

At least you can turn it off until you find the correct disk to un-install it.

In some cases, if you have the correct disk, reinstalling the software is necessary prior to un-installing.
