Question about Abit A17 Guru Motherboard
Hi if any on can help please let me know i have a problem of installing win nt 4.0 on my hard drive i think it is the mother board when i put the disc in and boot from the dvd rom drive it has a blinking line that looks like this-and nothing happends i have to unplug the hard drive and when it gets on to the nt setup screen it copies all the files then you have to take the disk out and reset the computer and it happends all over again
so if anyone can help i will give you all the credit
Okay, this is elementary, but I've forgotten some pretty basic things before.
1. You've cleared the RTC?
2. Made sure you have the latest bios copy in it?
3. Gone into set up and set the computer to boot from the DVD before the hard drive? (If it's set to still boot from the hard drive first, it won't boot up)
4. Made sure the drives are properly defined?
By the way, does NT 4.0 run on Fat 32 or NTSC?
You don't happen to have a master/slave problem the way your drives are set up do you? Just trying to think of anything that might foul the install.
I think it sounds more like a hard drive problem with the way it is set up rather than the motherboard. I hope that is the case. Let me know how it goes.
