Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

DVD code Hello, I have just purchased a Philips DVP3110K DVD video player in Australia. The store I bought it from gave me the codes to allow us to play any region DVD's, but I am having trouble getting access to the Preferences menu - it just does not show. Can you please help me Thanks Linda

Re: DVD code

I just figured mine out. You need to enter 138931 when you get to the preference menu. It will then show the region. Use the up/down button to select '0'. This will unlock the DVD. Make sure there is no disc in the player, or you cannot access the preference menu. Hope this helps

Re: DVD code

I found this on another site for a different Philips model, but it works perfectly on my new DVP3110K.

1. Turn on the unit
2. Open the loading tray
3. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
4. Navigate to the "Preferences" page using the right arrow key
5. Enter 138931
6. You will now see the current region code displayed
7. Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the region required or "0" for all regions
8. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
9. Press "OK" on the remote
Good luck!

Will the dvp 311ok play ntsc dvd i am in australia and i am reg 4

As long as the NTSC DVDs are not region coded, and your TV is multi-standard (able to receive NTSC as well as PAL signals via A/V inputs or similar connections), the player should play NTSC just fine through it

I assume this is a PHILIPS player? If so, most PHILIPS DVD players support NTSC playback on PAL TV.

You are correct, Australia is region 4 for DVD standard. The only restriction would be region codes.

Philips DCP750/37 shows "wrong region"

Australian players are designed only to play Region 4 discs. United States discs are Region 1. It is illegal to change the Region code on a DVD player, so I can't tell you how to do it (ironically, it is the most frequently asked question about dvd players on - global world), but there are videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it - I would just enter "philips region code dvd" as your seacrh term. You won't find that exact model, but one of the codes in the video should work. Note that you will only be able to change the region code three times on a Philips - after that you will be locked out. So change it to Region 1 once, and never change it again.

Got dvd from New Zealand and it is a pal programme and I cannot get it to play in UK.

The reason your dvd player may not be working is that each dvd player has a region code that is designed to only work with dvds in that specific region to prevent pirated movies from being played. Here are the region codes:
  1. United States and Canada
  2. Europe and Japan
  3. Southeast Asia
  4. Latin America and Australia
  5. Russia, rest of Asia and Africa
  6. China
The code should be displayed with a sticker some where on the back of you dvd player that looks like a "globe with a number in it". You will have to visit the the manufacturers website of the dvd player to find out how to change or update the region code because the information is stored on a ROM chip inside the dvd player and is referred to as firmware, this same code is also imprinted on the dvds sold in your country and the code must match that of your dvds in order for it to play. So what you need to do is go to what company manufactured the dvd player example:Toshiba, Panasonic, etc and check the site to see if they allow you to be able to reset the region code to your countries setting. Hope this helps
