Question about GE DBSR453GBWW Gas Dryer

Model DBSR453GB1WW bought around 2004/2005 - Dryer runs but will not heat up?

My GE gas dryer # DBSR453GB1WW runs but does not have warm or hot air. Could it be the pilot?

This model uses an ignitor, you can replace the ignitor for about $80

Check the pilot light to see that it works when trying to use. Also gas valve could be stuck or bad.

When the dryer is turned on it runs for about 5 minutes and shuts off and only gets warm not hot . I tried different cycles but same result the drier is gas you can hear it light so its not a gas Problem...

GE Gas Dryer DBSR453GB1WW began squeaking during the most recent drying cycle. We should we try to repair ourselves or get a repair tech?


The squeaking noise is most likely emitting from the drum bearing (key#543). In order to access and replace the drum bearing will require removing the drum. The drum bearing/sleeve is part# WE1M462. I added the instructions on how to remove the drum in the images below. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing the dryer.

open the door there are twp screws there remove them take top off then the front remove belt and drum the element is in the back
