Question about Dell Inkjet 720 Printer
When i click print its says offline-printing and just sits there and doesn't print. I've unistalled it a few times tried pluging it in to different usb ports tried different usb cords and many other things i don't know what else to do
Dell printer drivers try to 'phone home' with Ink usage stats .. even if you select 'no' when asked, they still try to access the Internet ..on install the driver modifies Microsoft Vista Firewall settings to permit this ...
So if you recently installed a non-Microsoft Firewall eg. ZomeAlarm your print driver will be denied access to the web and will refuse to print.
Note that 'deny' is different from 'time-out' ... to test turn off your wireless (or remove the ethernet cable) and ONLY THEN turn off your firewall - if it now starts printing you have your solution (go into Zone Alarm and Enable all Dell & MS print related software access to the Internet).
DO NOT browse the web with your Firewall turned off !!!!
