I think that your power supply is dead. ... I had the same problem with my Bestec ATX 250 power supply. I fixed the problem by installing the StatTech model: ATXPOWER250. It was easy to install. Took about 20 minutes. It works well. It is almost identical to the original but a litlle more quiet. I bought the StatTech ATXPOWER250 at MicroCenter.com for $29 . Also available online at Newegg.com, Radioshack.com, Provantage.com, ...... ALSO, when you are done, pull your memory/ram sticks from your motherboard and press them back in firmly - until the claps come up. You are Done!

With destop wont turn on

Robert was right make sure your computer is unplug from the power strip. now check the power supply cable to the mother board, then check the power cable to the harddrive, and then the DVD.once you put the power cable back into the computer you should get the power supply fan should come on, and the cpu fan should come on.

Next once you hit the on/off switch and green light should come on.

Emachines W2888 will Not Start up

Most likely the system board has failed. If the power supply had blown it is not unusual for the subsequent spike to blow the system board. On the other hand it may have been the system board that failed and the PSU is ok. Emachine system boards are rubbish

Either way you will need a new board and most likely a reinstall of the OS

Emachine t3958

First check to see if a drive died. Unplug all the drive Floppy, hard and dvd or burns. I have come across many time that a drive will die and keep motherboard from booting. Being that you say you get a green light on the motherboard shows that the power suppy is providing some power. But for some reason the internal self test is faulting the power suppy. I have not come cross any bad power supplies killing a motherboard. But I have come across power supplies killing drives. The power switch is a normal open switch so the only time you be able test continuity on it is if you hold the switch in, or the closed position.

Computer shuts down problem

When you take the cover off and start up, are all of the fans spinning? If the CPU fan doesn't spin, the system will shut down soon after starting to prevent over heating the CPU
