Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Lines are printing on my photos

I have a Canon Pixma MP750 not a Pixma MP530 as it says below.  It did not give me an option with our printer on.

I was printing our babys thank you cards and everything was going great.  It was looking fantastic.  All of a sudden, lines started appearing about 2mm apart.  No matter what I do, nothing seems to fix it.  I have tried all of the maintenance things the printer supplies but nothing seems to work.

Can you please help me with this matter.

Re: Lines are printing on my photos

You probably ran out of one or more colors in the ink cartridge.  You can also try 'clean heads' per your printer documentation.

How do i clean the printhead on my pixma mp750

If you open the preferences option for your printer there should be a maintenance tab with easy options for cleaning and checking the results. The alternative is to use the menu directly on the printer: 1. Press Menu twice to show "2. Maintenance" 2. The first option is NOZZLE CHECK 3. Press OK This should give you a print showing the current state of each colour. If there are any missing lines in 3eBK or lines in any colours then perform the head cleaning below. 1. Press Menu twice to show "2. Maintenance" 2. Press + to show "CLEANING" 3. Press OK Repeat the nozzle check after each clean. If not improved after three attempts try a deep clean as below (cleaning uses up ink) 1. Press Menu twice to show "2. Maintenance" 2. Press + twice to show "HEAD REFRESHING" 3. Press OK Repeat the nozzle check. If still not printing correctly there are various external solutions available to clean the print head such as

Can you do macs? how do i print duplex with this printer, duplex is suported by my mac

The Canon-supplied MP530 driver doesn't have duplex printing as a print option. Mac OS 10.5 has Gutenprint drivers built-in for a number of popular printers, including the Canon MP500 which is a near match for the MP530 and includes the two-sided option for printing.

With the MP530 plugged into your Mac (or, presumably, available over the network) go to the Add Printer wizard ( System Preferences > Print & Fax > + ). Pick MP530, name the printer something like "MP530 Gutenprint" and under "Print Using:" choose "Select a driver to use...", select "Canon PIXMA MP500 - Gutenprint v5.1.3" and then Add the printer.

The MP500 Gutenprint driver isn't a perfect substitute for the MP530 one, however, so you should do this in addition to installing the proper MP530 driver from the Canon website and adding the printer using that driver with a name like just "MP530" or "MP530 Canon". In a year or two of using the Gutenprint driver I've only once had a print job that wouldn't render correctly (some missing lines on the printout), and for that one time I had to switch to the Canon-supplied driver to get it to work. All the other times I find it very convenient to have two-sided printing available as an option.

The two sided printing isn't particularly fast, but it's a whole lot more convenient than manually printing the odd pages and then the even pages.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

I have a MP530 printer and a vista os. I downloaded the drivers recomended and I suppose they loaded when I unzipped the folder. When I print on my photo paper i get vertical lines through out the photo...

if you downloaded the right driver for the right OS, and you were able to print then there is no correlation between your printer and the driver the problem is with your printer itself. i believed the printhead of your color printer is either dirty or have some smudges on it, ensure this first and foremost pls

Two-sided printing

On a PC...
- Ctrl + p to print
- Choose the Canon MP530 if it's not already selected
- Click Properties button
- Page Setup tab
- Select Duplex Printing

My paper always gets jammed, so I always uncheck the Automatic checkbox. Hopefully you won't have to do that.

Good luck.
