Question about RCA TruFlat 27F520T 27" TV

2 Answers

I cannot get digital to appear on television.

Yesterday, a lot of stations in my area have switched to digital before the official June 12 date. I ran a scan on my television. It did a scan for both analog and digital stations. Non of the digital stations are appearing on my television. I am wondering if there is another way for the digital stations to appear. Or is it possible that my cable company is not digital ready and I will have to wait until June 12 to see digital television. I do not have my manual. My televison is RCA Trueflat up in the upper right corner are the letters SDT with a check mark by the letter.

Any help will be great.

Blessings

Ruth

Seeing gray at top and bottom of screen and black to the sides with a
small frame picture now for the digital transferred channels. How do we
change the settings or correct his issue? Does this tv support digital
transition? If the television does not support digital than what do
people need to receive digital format?

    Thanks for your time,
    T.

Sdt tvs need a cable box from your cable company they are not all true digital tvs also check with your cable company to see if they are converting the signal back to analog for just regular customers who do not have a cable box because that is what the signal will be ...even though it says digital

You will need to call your cable company to help you with that issue.

Will this TV work in a Motor Home with a standard roof antennae

Yes, it should work. Here's a little history.

Color TV was around as early as 1946, when CBS engineer Peter Goldmark -- who also had a hand in creating the long-playing vinyl record-- developed a method of broadcasting in color. Unfortunately, hiscolor-broadcasting standard wasn't compatible with existing TV sets, and in 1953, the National Television Standards Committee (NTSC) adoptedRCA's method of color broadcasting instead.
Go Digital
From there, we have incremental introductions -- the remote control, cable and satellite providers, and videocassette recorders (VCRs),et cetera. But in general, you don't have to have all those things towatch TV. If you live in an area near a broadcast station, you canstill plug a pair of rabbit ears into the antenna jack on the back ofyour set and get programming.
On Feb. 17, 2009, some analogchannels in the United States went dark -- with a few exceptions, therest did so on June 12. Regular broadcasters in the United States havecompleted the transition to digital television (DTV). The reason? Broadcasters moved their signals to another part of the radio spectrum. One reason for the switch was to free up space for police, fire andother public safety communications. The remaining portion of thebroadcast signal will be available to consumers for wireless services.

Theoriginal date for the analog-to-digital transition had to be movedbecause the FCC needed to raise awareness of the change among thepopulation. The idea was to make sure few people are left behind, buttheir efforts caused some confusion. To receive digital televisionsignals, some people need a converter box.
If you live in theUnited States and use a regular antenna to get television signals overthe air, this is probably the reason why you can't see your oldstations today.

My radio won't play tv channel 4 sound or any other! please tell me if im doing something wrong!

Since June of last year all television broadcasting switched over to digital signals. Without a converter your radio will not receive any of the stations sound channels. Impossible to modify, only a converter will bring the stations in.

You will need to rescan your stations. On the June cutoff date, they reshuffled and renumbered most of the stations.

Did you rescan your stations yet? When they made the transition, many, if not most, TV stations changed numbers on the dial. Enter the menu on your TV and manually tell it to rescan the stations. This should resolve the problem.

After the digital transition, I lost one of the local channels. When I rescan, all of the other local channels come in no problem. ABC Channel 12 in Flint Michigan is gone. I had it no problem on...

Try the recommendations in a document posted on the FCC site (http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DOC-291403A1.doc)

Also be aware the several stations have had problems with the transition. Some changed frequencies on which they were transmitting and encountered area coverage issues that didn't meet their expectations. They have been working with the FCC to remedy the problems and many stations have temporarily increased output power to compensate for the issues. Some of these stations may be difficult to receive and you may need to get larger antenna. If you are still having problems call the FCC DTV transition hotline at 1-888-CALLFCC (1-888-225-5322) or the TV station for advice.

Dtv and more channels

The original date for digital conversion for television broadcasts was February 17, 2009. The date has been extended to June 12, 2009 by Congress, at which time all analog television broadcasting will be discontinued. Some stations, due to technical reasons, have already made the transition, while others continue to broadcast an analog signal. This may attribute to your only receiving 4 stations via your "rabbit ear" antenna.

You can check the website of your favorite stations to see when they will make the transition to digital broadcasting. Also, households are eligible for up to two coupons for $40 each toward the purchase of certain converter boxes. You can check out the details at https://www.dtv2009.gov/ for more information regarding the coupons.

Can't get all digital channels

There are several possibilities assuming you have an outdoor antenna with the amplification. You are too far from the transmitter or the station is still on a low power digital transmitter until the analog broadcasts end. Additionally, there may be buildings, hills or trees in the way. The first one is called the digital cliff - you either have enough signal for your tuner or you don't. Some stations may need to add transmitters to cover the secondary areas that could still receive the analog signal. The second possibility will either resolve on Feb 18 or June 12 or anywhere in between. (It will depend on your station and the Digital TV transistion delay bill. Some stations are changing frequencies with the transistion and can't go to full power until another analog station moves its frequency.) The last one can't be resolved.
If you have an indoor antenna, you can try moving it around to get better results. My household has an amplified outdoor antenna with a rotator to get the antenna to line up with the signal. We have two analog stations that give problems when we look for their digital signals. We hope the issue will resolve with the changeover since we have seen the signals on both stations improve when they wanted to broadcast football games.
