My garmin streetpilot c340 won't power on. I tried everything even the reset button. Then I called technical support from the # on the garmin website & they told me the battery is dead & I need to send it in for repair & it will cost me 89.00 just so they can put a new battery in it. Has anyone had this problem or know another way to fix it?
My unit had the same problem. So I tried this first. With the display unit facing you, the aluminum cover plate has the the word GARMIN on it. Use you fingernail under the word Garmin and the cover plate comes off. The left part of the cover stays attached to GPS and the right side lifts up exposing the RESET button. I pressed RESET and POWER together and it works now. Hope this works for you also.

Hello there: please follow these instruction and this should help if not let me know and i willcontinue to get you more information for you nstructions
the screen of the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the touch screen does not
seem to respond when you hit it with your finger or a stylus, you may
need to calibrate it. To do this, turn the unit off and then hold down
the "Power" key for approximately one minute. You will see a
calibration screen come up that will recalibrate the GPS unit.
the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If your GPS unit is not responding or is
stuck on a particular screen, it may need to be reset in order to
operate. To reset, remove the face plate of the unit by gently prying
it off. Locate the "Reset" button under the face plate and press down
in order to restart the device.
the fuse of the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the fuse blows on the GPS,
you will need to make a replacement using an ACG/3AG 2 amp fuse.
Unscrew the adapter cord at the end and remove the fuse found there.
Put in the new fuse to see if this returns function to the unit.
the software for your Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the GPS is not
providing you with correct directional information, you may need to

Garmin StreetPilot C340 with the USB cord to your PC and log on the Garmin website for available updates.
I has the same problem with a streetpilot 540.. It wouldn't turn on, even once charged. There was no reset button under the serial number. However, prise off the grey plastic square plate on the front panel which goes around the screen. ( there's even a little space for your fingernail under the Garmin logo). The reset button is under that plate. Press that with a screwdriver then turn on. My unit turned on once reset.
No.......the C340 STREET PILOT has a hidden reset button. Put your fingernail in the slot just under the GARMIN name on the front face plate. Gently pull the face plate outward. Don't take it all the way off. The reset button is on the right side of the front screen just under this plate. Use a pointed object and hold the button IN for 3 seconds and unit will turn off. When you power it back up it will REBOOT.
I found the solution on another blog. He said to try resetting the reset button . It worked. The button is located under the front screen. Remove screen frame by fingernail under the Garmin name. I'm thrilled. navinscs
I had this problem before, i called garmin and they told me that the charger cradle was not design properly so it sometimes doesnt charge...anyways...carefully remove the grey cover around touchscreen and there is a master reset which will set it back to factory...it worked for me...good luck!
The clue is that the voice is slowing and low pitch. The main processor time base has slowed... which means everything will be buggy.
First try would be to Reset the unit. Remove the face cover (GENTLY pry it loose by the fingernail groove directly under the GARMIN logo), press the RESET button, then reattach front cover... this is covered in the owners manual, available online.
If not, then it sounds like a hardware failure... time for a 1-800-800-1020 call (their customer service number)
