Camera doesn't get past welcome window with memory card installed
After installing an SD card, the camera will not get past the start up window, and none of the buttons work. I have to remove the battery and the SD card, replace the battery, then the camera works fine using the internal memory. Re-installing the memory card locks it up again.

Re: Camera doesn't get past welcome window with memory...
Have you tried another brand of memory card ?
Try a memory card from a friend that has been used for a while. If it locks up with other cards then you have problem with camera. Check if needs to be set to read from memory cards above certain sizes ?

The user guide is not available online as a download. However installing an SD card is usually pretty simple. On this camera, the SD card slot is on the bottom inside the compartment where the battery is housed. Simply slide the door open, and locate the slot for the memory card. The memory card should only go in one way, so don't try to force it. If it doesn't fit fairly easily try turning the card around. Remember: the gold pins on the card go into the camera!
Hi - I am not familiar with this camera, but it appears many users have encountered similar downloading problems. That is too bad - kids should not be made to feel cheated out of the wonders of technology.
1- Connect the camera to the computer and put it on. Go to Start/ My Computer If the camera appears as an external memory volume E: or D: etc. , click on the icon and on any folders inside. The photos should be there. Copy the entire folder enclosing the photos (right-click/copy) and paste it in any other folder where you have your files for example on the desktop.(right-click/paste). 2- If the camera does not appear in My Computer in step 1. check if it has a removable SD memory card. If it has one take it out of the camera and put it in an SD card reader (some computers like the iMac and other laptops have an SD card slot built in the side) . Connect the reader by its USB to the camera and check My Computer as in step 1. Since the camera has a built-in memory as well as the SD card the photos you want may be on the internal memory. So you need to go to step 3. 3- If the camera does not have an SD card, then your only option is to check the camera driver installation, and use. The manual and the following pages should help: Good luck it is frustrating to deal with driver problems.
Start up a computer with Windows XP, Vista, windows 7or Insert the SD card into an external memory card reader or into the computer's built in card reader. If it the first time a SD card has been inserted into the computer, Windows will recognize the SD card and automatically install drivers to read the memory card.
2Go to the computer view by clicking on the windows start menu icon in the bottom right corner of the computer. In Windows 7 and Vista click "Computer". In Windows XP click "My Computer"
3Right click on the SD drive under the computer heading. A dialog box with different options for the drive will appear. Click on "Format" to bring up the formatting dialog box.
4Select the type of formatting (also known as file system format). In Windows XP or Vista there are several choices including FAT, FAT 32, and NTFS. In Windows 7 there is an added choice called exFAT formatting. This is an improved FAT formatting type with improved meta data capabilities. Choose the formatting type, name if the drive if desired, check or uncheck the "quick format" option, and press the "Start" button. When the SD card format is complete Windows will provide a notification. If you need further assistance please feel free to let me know. Thanks and have great day, Midwest-tek
