Power supply not charging

When plugging in my PSU the latitude D5050 reported non standard PSU recognised, and now it does not work off the Power supply even though it is the correct one. it is though the laptop has detected the wrong power supply but wont detect the correct one is there any way to reset the detection process.

Thank you,, but it was a universal PSU that I plugged in, one that I have used for years. I then plugged in the original PSU and that did not work either. both chargers work on my other laptop.
the message only popped up once, it may be mother board, but it is one hell of a coincidence that it failed as the message came up. i understand that there may be a bios setting i have looked but nothing obvious. it appears that it sut down to prevent damage from what it thought was the wrong PSU and there should be a reset somewhere,

Just a suggestion, There might be something wrong with your PSU and thats why your computer is telling you that the PSU is wrong. Go to a computer store and buy a universal power supply that fits your notebook. Ask someone there to let you test it before buying. and if it works without telling you that same error. then you have should just buy it and that tells you the other on is a fail PSU. But if it does tell you the same error. you might have something else fail on the motherboard.

You might want to check if it can be a bios problem. See if there is an update bios from the DELL for your model?

Pin out for a dell PS-5201-8D2 power supply

Use caution, some older Dell machines used a non standard, proprietary pin-out on the 20 pin connector ALso the 6 pin is suspect. If you connect a regular ATX PSU, you will fry the MoBo. Look here

be wary of non standard Psu items like "universal PSU's" connectors often have a black "arrow" embossed on connector to denote correct position.Failure to notice this can permenantly damage your equipment

Power supply unit gets power as light on the back shows but pc wont turn on. Have tried differnt PSU and pc turned on but have had unit checked and they said the PSU is working fine. Cant fit standard PSU...

Try this to get it at-least back on with your PSU that fits in the case. open up your computer case, locate your power supply. With the AC cord still plugged in , unplugged the connectors to your motherboard from the PSU and wait about 10secs. Then replugged them in. This should power on your PC.
Also, You wanna check around where the PSU connects to the motherboard and make sure there is no damage. No burning,Discoloration anything that could be potential damage.
Hope this works atleast to get the PC booting up.

Where to purchase a new 250w ENP-3125 power supply unit in the uk

Go to any computer-store, carrying your old power-supply with you,
tagging which of the connectors that you use, and which of the connectors that you do NOT use. The sales-representative can then find a "generic" power-supply with the same height/width/depth, and with the necessary connectors,
and with the necessary power-output (volts & amperes).

Computer will not turn on....how do I check to see if power supply is faulty? I have power supply removed and have a tester to check for dc voltage etc

I just went through a heap of troubleshooting with power supply issues before swapping psu's and finding this was the solution to my problem. Had a closer look at my psu that was faulty, the green light was flashing on the psu, unplugged all components and thought that I now had a non-flashing green light on my psu, on closer inspection the light was actually flashing very fast so appeared to be an almost solid light...the psu was stuffed so replaced it and no more issues. If your power supply has a green light check to see if it is flashing when plugged into voltage with nothing connected to it. If it is a solid light then it is probably ok.

Why shud i use a 230W supply on om my XBOX 360? is it better than the 175W and the 150W?

The more amperage you have on the 12 volt rails the more power you can draw from the power supply. For an xbox 360 I don't see any reason why you would use a non-standard power supply unit there really is no gain using a computer PSU on an xbox 360 unless you broke your factory PSU and then you could rig a computer PSU to it but your better off not trying unless your really good at electronics.

Is there a comptable power supply to replace FSP250-60HEN

Although ATX power supplies conform to various specification guidelines, there is not, unfortunately, a standard ATX power supply. To find a suitable replacement power supply for your machine, we would recommend that you have the following information to hand when making your purchase:

- You will require a PSU with a 24-pin ATX connector, SATA power connectors, and a 4-pin 12V motherboard connector
- Make a note of the wattage of your existing PSU
- Make a note of the external dimensions of your existing power supply
- Be aware that your PSU has a power connector for speakers. Most PSUs do not have this, so you may need to purchase a separate power supply for your speakers.

So it is a slight variation to a standard ATX power supply. If you are not using the speaker power off the power supply, then any standard ATX power supply will work for you

Power edge 1800 bought october 2006. It does have a DELL 650 Watt non-redundant power supply, type nr. PS-5651-1. Can I replace it with a standard ATX power supply, or is the connector not standard wired...

Dell uses proprietary psu's. You will need to contact them for replacement psu or find a supplier that makes psu's that can be used as a Dell replacement. Hope this helps.
