Re: error code 2-2

Error code 22 means short to ground. for a start check your power supply to see if anything is shorted to the ground.

It sounds like there is a fuse blown in side. I had a similar result after I changed out the IC chips, There is a way to get the error code. Unplug the TV then plug it back in. Press and hold "Device" and "Menu" button at the same time. The power button will blink the error code. Mine was a 2 - 2 which meant it had a short. When I researched that it turned out my 5A Pico fuses where blown. I checked them and they where bad. I soldered in 2 new ones and it turned back on. In most cases if you have a 2 - 2 you will also need to replace the IC's. I got mine from

Error code 2-2 indicates "Short Protect Circuit" problem in tv.
Need to check pico fuses in power supply as one or two got blown due to bad convergence chips.
Below is an exploded view of tv chassis, power supply and convergence area has been marked to give you better idea to look for pico fuses.
Unplug tv from wall socket before to repair/check any thing inside tv.
Hope these info will help you.

Wont turn on. I believe it has a blown fuse but

before replacing the fuse, check the bridge diode. ..when you take the back cover off, you will see the board behind the main board underneath the CRT's. it's around 2 1/2" X 12" in size. :)

My tv went out and I think I may have blown a fuse or something else went out. When I press the power button the green light turns on for a couple seconds and then just goes out. what do you think the...

NEXT TIME IT SHUTS DOWN: when green light goes out on THE FRONT OF THE SET: press and hold BOTH the menu and input buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both.

This is the self check this model has---power light should blink a two digit code---for example--two blinks, a pause and two blinks and the set will repeat the error code about 10 times.

1 blinks and then 2 blinks is NO ERROR DETECTED
2 blinks and then 2 blinks is short protect

ETC.....Let me know if you get an error code and I will tell you what the problem is---hope you find 2,2 that is the most common and the most easy to repair.

Won't power on...

Unplug the TV for a minute then plug it in while observing the power light. If the light flashes three times then the standby power supply is OK.

If the standby power supply is OK, a diagnostic code can be read from the green power light by counting the flashes. Press the power button once (this sets the diagnostic code). Press and hold the INPUT and MENU buttons on the fron panel for 5 seconds then release. The green light flash a two digit code (x flashes, followed by a pause, then y flashes). If it flashes a 2-2 code then a short circuit has been detected in the switched power supply. It would normally flash a 1-2 code for "no problem detected".

If a 2-2 code is read, check for blown pico fuses on the POWER circuit board. If the FA904 or FA905 fuses are blown then most likely at least one of the two convergence driver ICs are bad. It seems like this is the most common failure. I replaced these fuses and ICs in my TV. The parts cost me $50, but it required extensive disassembly, PC board desoldering & resoldering, and reassembly. If you can resolder circuits on a PC board then you can probably fix it yourself, otherwise call a repair person.

Power goes out after 2-3 seconds then light blinks twice then pause then again twice.

also I believe there is possibly a thermal fuse behind the cover you might want to check that.
Inspect everything to see first. It is possibly the 2 IC's I mentioned.

A short causes an open fuse. In this case, one or two open

pico fuses in power supply. Usually, the short is one of the

convergence IC's== STK unit(s) mounted to large heat sink on

middle PCB.Check it out and let me know if you need more help........T.
