HP 1610 (all in one) not responding

The 1610 printer says ready on the screen..I give it a printer command and the printer turns on, a paper advaces half way into the feed and stops..No printer icon in the lower right hidden tool bar..Eventually, it spits out the paper with one line of "gobbley goop"!..When I make the printer test with the printer keyboard, it prints the test OK!..any idea what's wrong?..Jim

HP has software that will detect your driver and update if necessary. You should go to their website and download it.

Sounds like a bad or outdated driver. I would remove the printer and have windows either scan for it automatically or download a new one from the manufacturer website.

First I would try a "heaver" weight paper in place of your current paper.

Second I would look for something blocking the paper path...maybe a piece of paper got stuck.

Hope this helps...

HP PSC 1610 printer gives error message: Carriage Jam, clear carriage. I open the door and there isn't a Jam. I tried the solution (clean cartridge, turn off/on couldn't reset) posted by nanotech 9 Aug...

If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.

Follow the steps for fix HP Printer Carriage Jam

  • Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck.
  • Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side.
  • Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

You can clean them from the rear access/jam cover. Just be careful when turning the rollers, must be slow and smooth movement.
