You have a sticky pressure roller which can be cleaned with some alochol based cleaning liquid but first make sure the capstan motor is operational.

I start to play a VCR tape and it just stops playing and the machine turns off. This doesn't happen with a DVD, however.

The VCR tape will turn off when spools are Jammed to prevent breakage of the tape. Take out the VCR cassette and put a thick pencil in the each sprocket hole and try winding in the right direction (which means when you manually wind the tape the other spool should unwind without resistance). If you feel resistance the sprockets are jamming. Knock the cassette on a hard surface without breaking it and usually it will free the jam. If does not help then carefully open the the cassette screw and re-position the sprockets.

Look at the housing where the spring should lay. There is a small shaped bend on the housing. This is where the bend of the spring should sit. Remove any tape on the spring before placing in unit. DANGER: Be careful not to move spring too much after removing and tape. It might unwind and fly into your face.

The pull cord on my Craftsman gas blower model 358.794765 was jammed with about 6" sticking out. I took it apart and found nothing broken but now i cannot figure out how to put the spring in. There does...

Most likely the reason for the jamming of pull rope would be the rewind coil was over stressed due to use and age (they become brittle after a while) and where the coil catches on inside of housing snapped causing a slight unwinding and then the restricted movement of pull rope assembly. If you have it apart you should be able to see where the coil connects at both ends and attaches to its mating location. If you do not see the typical bent coil hook then your coil is broken. No worries, if this is the case, heat the broken end with a lighter or torch and use a pair of needle nose pliers and reshape to match the hooking location. Once completed, rewind coil and place masking tape around coil temporarily holding coil in place and leave yourself about three inch lead of coil to attach where it needs to go. Insert and fasten coil assembly then remove all pieces of tape. At this time your pull rope should be recoiling and rewinding pull rope. Always wear eye protection.

Panasonic vcr nv-hd650 stuck tape in machine

This can be due to many faults and need a full check up but I can fill up with few tips.
1. If the cassette loads and the take up spool does not turn then the machine will shut and rewind.
2. If the take up spool rotates but then it shuts down then the reel sensor at the bottom of the forward wheel can be faulty- there are opto devices or proximity sensors/magnetic type.
3. If the drum does not rotate it will shut down as well a fault in the SERVO section.
4. Defective HALL IC can shut the switching and so the servo will shut down the processor.
5. Fault in the power section to deliver the correct voltage to the circuits/loading servo to take up.
6. Finally if the loading is not to the MODE switch point or failure of mode can make the loading to trip as it will not complete the load to the desired point.

All the above issues can stall the loading of the tape and so will be seen as struck inside. Sometimes mechanically/manually removing by unwinding the motor can release a jamming and restore.

Tape will not eject may be in wrong how do i get it out manually

Open up the door and push the tape in hard and fast. Hopefully it will popup a little to remove it.
Is this an old cassette? If its damaged in any way, or it's been exposed to moisture or extreme heat, it can cause the tape to jam.

If that doesn't work and knowing that this Camcorder has no repairable parts inside, remove the door and turn the load gears in reverse. If this doesn't work, you might need to pry it out. I still have my ancient VHS recorder and had to do that once about 13 years ago. lol
It still works, but I bought new tapes. I'm not sure if those tapes are still available but you could search online for those.

I hope this works!

ERROR MESAGE: 39,012,40:63227 WORKCENTER 2424 DP

Error 39,12.40 is caused by the black shutter that moves across the face of the lamp inside the document feeder getting stuck. I've repaired over a dozen of these units and all had the same problem. The shutter is moved by 2 coils of mylar fastened to a rotating shaft, as the shaft rotates the mylar coils unwind pushing the shutter forwards. Xerox have fastened the mylar to the shutter with 2 small pieces of sticky tape, these come of and the left over adhesive sticks the shutter to the housing assembly. To repair this the scanner assy has to be removed from the ADF unit, the cover over the scanner slot removed and then the mylar coils cleaned with alcohol or label remover. Don't forget to clean the housing where the mylar was sticking and don't replace the sticky tape, the shutter is fastened well enough without it.

The VCR is detecting something it doesn't like. Could be a foreign object inside, or the gearing out of time or ... Take the cover off and watch it as it loads and you'll probably figure out why.
