More then likely if the computer itself cant start up with just the battery alone, or run for any amount of time without the power cord plugged into it then its probably the battery.

I really need help with this, i cant keep doing this. When my laptop warns me about 10% charge i get confused because i had my ac on the whole time, i check and it says "Plugged in, not charging. Like what...

HI, first of all you should not use another power supply for anything electronic unless you know it has the proper voltage and amperage.

The bottom of your laptop should tell you what "input" voltage and amperage that it needs. The power supply should tell you what "output" voltage and amperage it supplies. You also need to make sure that the "+" and "-" in the circular plug are correct. See the example below.

Using the wrong power supply can seriously harm electronics!

Aside from that, if your laptop is over a year old and you are still using the original battery, it is entirely possible that your battery "dead" or "dying". If it still holds a charge but only last an hour or so it is most likely losing it ability to charge fully.

If the battery is not charging at all, it could be "dead" or the controller for charging the battery could be "dead"... it could also be your power supply!

The only way to really tell is to get either the power supply or battery (or both) tested, to see if it/they are producing the proper voltage and amperage.

My HP G72 laptop wont power on, even with a charged battery from another hp, The light wont come on when its plugged in.

Your motherboard has gone bad. The best thing to do is buy a new laptop. You can find a replacement motherboard online but after the cost of the part, shipping, and the pain of removing 100 screws, it just isn't worth it.

My Samsung laptop was working fine this morning untill it cut off on me because its got a faulty battery and needs replacing so I have to keep the charger at a certin place

You have to get a replacement battery, it's dangerous to run just off the cord as I am sure it gets very hot. Depending on how old the computer is you may just want to upgrade for a new one because a brand bane battery can cost over 100 by itself. You can order them online, but they don't last as long either. Once the battery is dead, that's it. Just back up what you need first thing. Then decide if you want to replace the battery with a brand name, knock off, or get a new laptop. I usually use it as an excuse to get a new laptop, but it's not necessary.

Battery icon says consider replacing battery how much would it cost to do this? and is this necessary, i have only had laptop just over a year.

Well in my opinion it really depends on what you use the laptop for. I have an Acer laptop myself (edging onto three years old) and it still gives me about an hour of battery on 3 cells.

Buying the battery from Acer or an official supplier will cost a lot of money, however if you know your model number, you can search Ebay for a generic part from China. They typically ship for free and cost less than 100$.
If you are not planning on needing to much battery time, you should be fine. You could also look into battery conditioning (google it) or purchase a portable power pack as an alternative to a new battery.
It is worth noting that laptops will function without batteries if they are plugged into the wall, so if portability is truly not an issue than don't worry about it.

The battery might be going dead. Over the years the laptop batteries begin to die. I would get a new battery. Their is a place I know of that will repair your old battery (they stick new cells in), but that costs more than buying a new one. How old is your Laptop? It would also be helpful if you could tell the manufacturer and model number of the Laptop

My charger will not charge the computer, and when it is plugged in it is getting really hot...is it my charger or battery??

Toshiba laptops run really hot, normally. It is one thing that I dislike about them. I never investigated, but presumed it was processor, as the heat was being removed by the fan.

Battery is 100% charged but when i unplug the cable the computer goes off. Why?

The batterycould be old.
lithium batteries does not go dead when old
You simply cannot get the energy it stores.
That isthe draw back with them.
Other wise they would probably last forever.

Battery Problem

Depending on how old the batteries are they may be shot. Lithium ion laptop batteries only last about 3 years no matter how many times they have been charged and discharged.

If the batteries are fairly new you may have a problem with your charger/adapter.

If you decide to replace the battery do a search for "replacement laptop battery" on Google. You will get dozens of sites that sell replacements. They usually offer a tool where you type in the make and model of your laptop and they will tell you the replacement you need. Very simple. Be aware that a replacement will usually cost from $100 to $200.

Depending on how old your laptop is it might be more cost effective to buy a new laptop for when you need portability. I see pretty decent laptops online for $500 all the time. You can always keep your old one as a second computer for a child, or sell it on eBay for cheap.
