Question about Mitsubishi WD-62525 62" Rear Projection HDTV

3 Answers

Lamp/other I've had my 62525 about 4-5 years. The lamp has burned out a number of times; at first I bought the mitsu replacement lamp for $225, but the last time I bought one for $130. The screw on top of the lamp was different, but I was able to make it work. It has worked for 3-4x as long as the more expensive lamp bulbs, although the yellow light came on quite a while ago, telling me to replace bulb. Yesterday- the tv would power up, gave me a blue screen with a green spot (consisting of a number of horizontal lines), that fluctuated as tv picture changed ( i had a second tv hooked up that I could see). The device menu would come up, and I tried switching devices around to see if I could get anything different, but no. When I plugged cable line directly into "ANT-1" or "ANT-2", the entire screen was green, with white spots. This too fluctuated as picture changed. No sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The main board is very expensive, I would imagine. It hasn't been 3-4 years with this lamp, maybe about a year.

  • thatguyflint May 12, 2009

The TV was turned off overnight, already.

    Thank you for your reply.
Where might I find the IRC cable. Is it the large black cable with a white connector?

  • thatguyflint May 22, 2009

OK, have replaced lamp, and now the picture is rolling up and down, I get white noise, and no picture w/cable directly into Main or ANT2. Still don't know where the "LVDS" cable is.........
Thank you in advance for any help.

Well, the last thing to try here if your lamps are giving out is to test the volts the psu is giving them and make sure its regulated and that there is no capcitors that are bulging or even exploited in the unit itself and if so repace them will indeed increase the life of the lamp itself

Hi I am Abhishek, welcome to fixya,

I think this is not the problem of lamp, when lamp burnt out it seem to be indifferent,,,,it is the problem with your multiwire cable (LVDS).

When you open your tv there is a multiwire cable (LVDS) which connects main board to LCD controller. Most of the time it is the problem...your tv picture will come back as soon as this cable is unplugged and plugged again from both ends......

if this doesnt solve the problem change the cable,,,,,,my another doubt is colour wheel....but this is the common problem

try it and reply me back,,,,,,,,,,,,(one thing check the incomming voltage also)
thank u,,,,,,,,,,,,

It seems like there may be a incompatibility with the replaced lamp you have had it working for 3/4 years but within time this may have damaged your main boards causing a malfunction, you will have to get your tv's main board replaced.

yes the main board IS expensive but the $130 was not designed for your tv, and now the tv is showing sighns of malfunction, try to plug your tv for 30mins and try again and if the problem persists it means that your tv main board has permanent malfunction.

Replace the lamp and turned it on. Once the timer stopped blinking, I turned the set on. No picture, but got sound. Then after a minute or so it shut down with the red lamp light on.

Pull the lamp out and then back in again. That model mitsu can be very hard getting the lamp in just right. It sounds like it is not getting plugged into the ballast all the way. And make sure you put the door back on, because it has a safety switch that will trigger a bad lamp light as well.

WD-62525 went dead. Can a burned out lamp cause this?

No, a burned lamp would cause the power source of the tv to go in reduced mode and that would be clearly identifiable by the blinking lights on the status and lamp indicators.
If the tv is dead (no lights whatsoever)it means that the power source has failed completely - this is a big defect, that must be investigated by a pro: the origin of the failure must be found and the faulty part replaced replaced or any new part you just put in blindly will be instantly fried. At least the power source board will have to be replaced and that will cost you around $250.

Make sure u replace the lamp cover as the safety switch need to be closed to make the set work. If new lamp did not repair your problem , then it may well be the Ballast Board, Sometimes call the Lamp Driver.
