Our TV has suddenly reverted I guess you'd say to showing us all of the reasons you should "Buy this TV". We can't change the channel, turn it off (without unplugging it) or anything. We don't have a remote for it and we'd bought a universal remote but it won't work on this TV. My serial # is 41099039 And my email is V_Bolin@yahoo.com
I've unplugged the TV and let it sit for a while thinking it might reset itself but it hasn't.

Before you buy a new TV go through all the TV menu options to see if it has automatic dimming depending on the amount of light in the room. If it does it may be malfunctioning and turning that feature off may fix the problem.
In most VCRs, as you have posted, there is a switch at the back where you can select the output to either Ch 3 or 4. In some cases, the switch is deep inside and you have to remove a small squarish rubber covering to expose the hole. It is normally close to the antenna input/output. More often than not it is a simple sliding 2 position switch. You would need any tool that can reach and sturdy enough to slide the switch.
Internally program output channel selector is very possible, I would guess that its selectable via the menu set-up tabs.
A question pls, How did you "I tried to manually change the channel to 4, but the VCR reverted back to channel 3..."
Hope this be of some help to you. Pls post again how things turn up or further information. Good luck and kind regards.
This is caused by radio frequency and what i mean by that isyour tv unit is gettng confused with the crystals that control the connection between the tv and remote. The solution to this is to go to wal mart and buy a new universal remote and in the package should be an instruction manual to set the remote to the tv , First find your tv name in the pamplet, second there will show a code of the remote type it in and enjoy.
Make sure u have signal on both tuners on the DVR ( check it in your set-up screen). both tuners should have the same siganl strength. Directv's DVRs, if installed correctly, give u the option of recording one channel and watch another, or recording 2 seperate channels( 2 tuners). If you are recording 2 seperate shows and u change the channel one of your recordings will cancel .
For the remote to work, make sure "video" is selected (instead of "tv"). It's the little button on the remote under the red button at the top that turns on the TV ("TV/Video")
As for the split screen, I've had that happen numerous times (when I lose power or revert to default settings). YOu have to go to Setup, Display, and select 4:3.
I hope I have helped you. I'm having other problems - with the audio. Some channels have no audio (maybe 3 or 4) and 2 channels are in SPANISH!!! (??) Weird that it's not uniform. I even tried reverting to default settings (and got that split screen!), but didn't help. It "jumped" a few times to the input type screen. I'm thinking some chip got fried or something. I've had it almost 2 years, and guess that's the "built-in" obsolescence!! :-)
