Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Difficulty with getting the TV to come on. I have changed the batteries in remote, checked the wall receptable, and followed the trouble shooting info in the manual. By unplugging it from the fall for a sustained period, it might come on when it is plugged up again. Sometimes it will come on using the remote. It might that on for a while and then just shut-off! Sometimes you can not shut-it off with the remote, but rather unplug it. The TV is was purchased at Target in Texarkana, Tx a few months ago. Serial No. is 5580G82900585; part no. is TW-55801=C026C. I would appreciate any help you can give me. My home telephone is 870-246-9452; my cell is 870-230-3208. Thanks.

I have checked to make sure there was nothing obstructing the sensor. As a matter of fact, I can detect the sensor blinking. This morning when I plugged the set up, it screen blinked and blinked for a few seconds and just went completly off. Now it does blink or anything. It is possible that I could plug it up again, and it might come on and stay on for a while, then shut itself off. Is there a chip or something in the remote that needs checking out? Can you provide me with a more specific answe?

well its either the remote sensor or the tv remote sensor was failing on there. but the thing it only happen that when you try to turn off the set long hour and it will came back to function again, this could be the sensor on your tv set and not your remote has the problem.

on this case you may need a technician to diagnose the problem for you.

    Thank you

Why does TV turn off with the remote but won't stay off?

Greetings Charlotte,

All of the following assumes you are using the TV manufacturer provided remote ...
(ELSE: Get THAT remote, verify trouble & re-post fixya issue)

A few seconds is a really odd symptom (that's an IMMEDIATE cycle (2 power KEY HITS)... so before you rip into the electronic eye (Remote Recvr: tiny board at the control edge of your TV)... and/or change out the main power board...

(think... EVERYTHING else works remotely).

- unplug your set for at least ten minutes
- close the drapes (block sunlight from TV)
- find the receiver eye & remove ALL close obstructions
- check the remote & remove ALL covers/tape or soil.
- fresh batteries in the remote
- press power button as quickly as possible

Considering (I'm thinking)...

After MY studying HUMAN - MACHINE interface in a lifetime of trouble shooting... I came to know that when people become
VEXED by electronics... they tend to MASH buttons much-more deliberately (this can be a PROBLEM all by itself).

Critical timing on a button press used to be 500 to 900 milliseconds...

Meaning a longer press... went into special "handling" by program code (early software iteration (trial & errors).
((registered multiple KEY HITS = slower response, etc etc))

Your Remote Receiver is designed to register a continuous press (ON THE REMOTE) as ONE KEY HIT regardless of the DURATION... however

Any soil on the set (receiver) or remote (transmitter)...
visual objects, vases, mirrors... even sun-light can significantly change operation... as can TIRED BATTERIES (in the remote).

Failing all the cheap & easy suggestions above comment me back (+make & model) and I'll point you to procedures to get into your TV.

Hope this helps

I was using this TV for my Wii Console. Now when switching on TV says: NO SIGNAL! I do not have a remote and do not know to search for signal. I changed cable to HDMI1 and 2 but no change

How did you operate and set up the TV without the remote previously?

In any event you can purchase a universal remote from an electronics store. Pick one that is marked as working with your brand of TV.
As long as the TV is set in the correct mode for TV reception and has the correct tuner, and as long as you can use that remote to access the onscreen menu, you will be able to set up a channel search and get TV reception restored.

Before you do anything just check that the TV is in the correct mode for TV reception and not set instead as a monitor for connection to another device.

Cat stepped on remote TV went black have sound but no picture i have tried every menu option?

Try doing this:

Self-check indication only:

Produce TV reception screen, and while pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button on the main unit, press [OK] button on the remote control

for more than 3 seconds.

Self-check indication and forced to factory shipment setting:

Produce TV reception screen, and while pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button on the main unit, press [MENU] button on the remote

control for more than 3 seconds.

9.1.2. Exit
Disconnect the AC cord from wall outlet.
This is straight out of the service manual.

Trouble shooting vizio remote

Check the batteries, check the battery contacts inside the remote. If you see any white crud on the contacts you will have to clean them. Also make sure the batteries are fitting snug against the contacts.

Hi i have a small kenmore wall unit the number on the remote is 6711a20056t. it is just blinking when I turn it on. how can I trouble shoot this?

Two things: Make sure that the wall unit is plugged in and turned ON. If that checks out, replace the battery in the remote control, as it may be weak.

Hope this helps you to start troubleshooting the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I tried to program my Toshiba TV Model 27A43 to a new Universal Remote, because the original Toshiba remote was functioning more+more slowly ( I changed batteries on the original Toshiba remote first)...

Yes do a complete new channel scan. Play this like you just got the TV. If you want to buy the OEM factory remote you can most likely get it at the link and avoid all this hassle. Follow the link below. 1 800 Remotes
