Sounds like your icemaker is leaking. Have you looked at it to see if you can see water running down?

It's most likely a leak in the line feeding the icemaker -- or it may just be loose. Could be the valve, but less likely. It'll have to be removed to find out.

Okay, so it sounds like the water level sensing/cutoff mechanism is not working. It'll have to be removed to troubleshoot.

  • Samuel Charles Spriggs May 12, 2009

Yes, it's replaceable -- may only need cleaning/adjusting.

Most likely the only way to shut off water to the icemaker is to remove it and cap off the line. Unless, you see on the back of the fridge where a branch line goes into the back of the freezer. If you have this, you can cut the line and plug it there. I doubt there is a separate cutoff for the icemaker on the back, but there may be -- check it out...

If you're what's called, "somewhat handy", you'll see how it comes out -- just start peeling back / uncovering stuff... screws, clips, etc.

  • Samuel Charles Spriggs May 12, 2009

Yes, but it has to get a signal from the level sensor to do this?

(This could be a simple float switch -- don't know about this model).

  • Samuel Charles Spriggs May 12, 2009

That would be the solenoid valve, I believe. If you can just disconnet the wires from it, that will probably keep the valve from opening. Try that and let me know.

Heat should dissipate shotly after fridge reaches normal temp.

This sounds lke a "problem solved". Please rate me a "FIXYA" as they say -- there should be icons at the bottom here.

Making a clicking noise and not cooling

This could be a relay on the control board or the compressor is short cycling or both. You can use my assistance to help you resolve this or call a technician, this depends on you. I am very familiar with the Artica/Profile and know that if you can follow instructions and use a test meter we can get this fixed. I would like your complete model number so I can refer to the exact model you have. I will leave you contact information and a service manual and a web page to use with the diagnostics. This problem will not get better, Sea Breeze

Frig gets too cold freezer works good

I had the same problem. I have the side by side Profile Artica. The problem was a broken damper. It allows the cold air in from the freezer side. With it broken, there was a steady flow of freezer air coming into the frig side. It was easy to fix. I ordered the part (damper/fan assemble) for around $100. While searching for a solution, it seems that this is a common problem. Unfortunately, I received a wide range of incorrect solutions to the problem which could have cost me a lot of money. I hope this helps!
