Question about Lands Phones

1 Answer

I just replaced my AT&T Dect 6.0 model #82518 because the base stopped working. Is there a way to factory reset all these extra handsets I have without the previous base to use to work with the replacement base?

Thank you so much for the fast response! Unfortunately, the manuals only cover the initial registering. There is no resetting old handsets to a new base instructions. I am looking for a factory reset function kind of situation.

  • debera33 May 12, 2009

I am sorry my explanation isn't giving you all the info. I owned a AT&T SL82558. The base and answering machine died. The service center sent me a replacement tell me that I could keep a handset from the same model set to save all the numbers programmed in.

The new/refurbished one arrived and the handset I retained to use with the replacement unit will not register with the base unit utlizing the "hold down handset locator button till base light stays on... " registering procedure. Nor by unplugging the unit and the phone from pwer sources for 30 seconds either.

Same model, different bases, trying to register the phone from the previous base in order to retain phone information.

There is a place by the battery where a four prong tool can be inserted. That is there for some reason, but I do not know what.

It is just in my experience with electronics so far, there is always a way a technician can reset things!

    Thank you!

Thank you so much for taking the time to try and help figure this out. Thank you for copying the page from the manual. I wish the manual alone would have been sufficient. I will contact the AT&T support staff through the internet. They charge a higher fee, but looks like that is what I have to do. Their phone center isn't routing through to technicians on this model number, it just hangs up! The other model numbers just go to recordings read from the manual as well, noone live. In order to get a live person, you must sign up for a technician for a fee.

I will not be utilizing AT&T products again.

Thank you again for doing what you could with what you know not being able to physically diagnose the phone.

Hi,

When you buy the new base you will have instuctions to re-register the phones to the base.

Make sure the new base is compatible with the phones, all will be good then. they are inter-changable from base to base, if compatible.

If you need assistance to register them, when you get the new base, I will help you.

Reply to me if you have problems

Regards

Richard.

    Hi,

I am not sure what you mean, you cannot factory reset the phones,

you can change settings on them, and delete things, like you probably did before, but there is no factory reset,

Registering them to the base makes them function as they did before.

If you are needing to change settings on the phones and base

Tell me all serial numbers and makes and models of all the devices please, to check for you.

Specifically what are you wanting to do on them ? as this involves changing settings only...

    Thanks

    Richard.

    Hi,

I am not sure of the tool used to reset the phone, And I couldn't tell you without having the phone and doing it myself, it would be un-professional to ask you to mess around in the insides of the phone with any tool, from across the wire. sorry,

I also do not know of the factory restore you mean either, sorry.

We could try to register the unit again, you should get an error, if not registered properly, this is then a hardware fault if they will not register properly,

To register a handset to your telephone base

    1. Place the unregistered handset into the telephone base. If PRESS HNDST LOC 4 SEC ON BASE does not appear on the handset screen after a few seconds, remove the handset and place it in the telephone base again.

    2. On the telephone base, press and hold HANDSET LOCATOR for about four seconds (until the red IN USE light on the telephone base turns on) and then release the button. The handset will show PLEASE WAIT... and it will take about 10 seconds to complete the registration. The handset will show HS X REGISTERED and will beep if the registration is successful.

    hope this helps

    Regards

    Richard.

    Hi,

no problem, these are the steps to register for you, and the settings can be changed on the device,

if it / they will not perform as expected, then there is another fault somewhere on them.

un-usual for 2 bases not to work on different phones.

    All the best

    Regards

    Richard.

Sync

If by "sync a handset" you mean register a handset so it works with the base, then yes. It doesn't even need to be the same model. The manual gives instructions for registering a handset to work with the base. If you need a manual, select the model of your Uniden DECT 6.0 phone from the list beginning at http://www.uniden.com/owners-manuals/dect-phones/scat/dectphones_mnl .

I have Uniden DECT1480-3. I purchased two expandable handsets, but I cannot figure out how to get the new handsets to register with the base unit.

Up to 6 handsets can be registered with the DECT 1480 phones. I have the 5 phone unit and needed to add the 6th phone. All I got was "Searching" in the display and the battery wouldn't even charge!

So here's what you have to do to get additional phones (up to 6 units) to work with the base. If you can get past step 1, it's a snap...

Step 1: Place a charged battery in the handset. This could be a problem if all your handsets are not registered, since unregistered phones don't charge (who thought of that design?). What I did was SWAP the battery from an already registered and charged phone with the new unregistered phone.

Step 2: Here's where the magic happens. Press the 'END' and '#' keys simultaneously... hold them down until a System Reset menu appears. Select "Deregister HS" and press Menu.

Step 3: Now, do the same thing again (hold down END and #), but this time select Base Unavailable and press Menu. You will see Base Unavailable Yes/No... Select Yes. Then place the handset in the base, wait a few seconds, and Voila!. it's registered. You can even change handset numbers using this menu if you play around with it.

Thank you, helpful employee at Costco for supplying the magic code. And hey there, UNIDEN... including this in the operation manual would have saved many customers much grief with de-registered phones!

Enjoy!

Only bass set going extra hand set not working

Hi,

This is because the extra handset might have not been registered with the base unit. The headset should be register to use the headset with that base unit.

To register the handset to base unit please follow the instruction:-

On registration the handset is allocated a handset number for use on the new base unit, the handset numbers are 1-5.

1. Press and hold
d65e3ff.jpgon the base unit until 608a95f.jpgstarts flashing. Registration mode will remain active for approximately 3 minutes.

2.Press and hold both
19efd34.jpg together until you hear a long beep.

3.Select the base unit you wish to register by pressing the corresponding number button 1-4.
4. When PIN is displayed, enter the units PIN number (0000 for this model).
5. If the registration is successful the handset will return to standby mode in a few seconds.

Thanx

My cordless phone says "to register see owners manual for help" How do I get the phone working, it is a uniden DECT 6.0 Model DECT 1588-2

With the phone in standby, press MENU/SELECT on the base.
Move the cursor to select the Register Handset menu, and then press MENU/SELECT. Handset Registering will appear.
On the handset, press and hold # until the handset beeps and displays Handset Registering.
When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration Complete then show the handset ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.
Note: If a handset has ever been registered to a base, reset the handset before you register it to a new base

GE DECT 6.0 Model 28111EE2 is not working, registration failed message

I had the same problem, and restoring to default settings did not seem to work either. I just opened the back, unplugged the battery, plugged it back in, and now it works again.

Just bought an additional handset for GE 27951 expandable 6.0 DECT Cordless. I press and hold the Page button for 5 seconds but the new handset will not register. Error keeps occurring "no base."

This exact thing happened to me. Same model number. No matter what I did, the new handsets would not register.

The solution? Reset the entire system:
1. On the BASE - Unplug from wall both power and phone line. Unplug battery from base handset.
2. ON the Extension phone - unplug from wall and unplug battery from handset.
3. Wait AT LEAST 5 minutes.
4. Plug back in BASE power.
5. Plug back in BASE phone line.
6. Plug back in EXTENSION handset battery. Don't plug in BASE handset yet.
7. Follow steps to program EXTENSION. When successful:
8. Plug back in BASE handset battery.
