Question about HP OfficeJet 7310 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My 7319 makes a brief intermittent click-hum every minute or so, that sounds like a phone line is being opened up (without hearing a dial tone). I have tried unsuccessfully to make the sound go away. Unplugging the phone line, turning off the fax's speaker, and turning off the fax's Auto Answer function, all do nothing. It is such a nuisance. Anyone have a solution?

Crankstart has suggested a blanket, sorry, but the sound is too loud to be muffled by a blanket.

This may sounds dumb, biut have you tried throwing a blanket over it?

Try it and respond back to tell me if it stops, just a hunch...

Lol, it's not the sound we're trying to muffle, as stated I knew the solution might sound dumb but we're not trying to muffle the sound. One of two things is likely happening.

1. There's a light source causing the calibration sensor to think something is moving in front of it and messing with it's normal function causing the head to move back and forth to recalibrate every minute or so.

2. Mechanical failure of one of the motors or caridge sensors is causing it not to know where the head is positioned and it is constantly trying to get back to it's "parked" position but never getting the signal from the sensor saying it is there.

With this in mind, throw a dark coloured blanket over it and see if the noise stops, if it does you either need to close the blinds, move the affending lamp or reposition the printer so the light isn't hitting it at the front where the little blue light blink occasionally.

If this doesn't work, it's likely a sensor failure and you may be able to determine which one by opening your printer toolbox and checking the various diagnostic routines.

Hope this makes things a little more clear,

Chris

Fax problem

I want to make sure I understand this completely. You get no dial tone from the fax machine when hooked up to VOIP. In the past, was there an audible dial tone from the fax, or did it just dial silently and give you an error if there was no tone? When you said you got a dial tone by connecting a phone to the ext phone port of "the machine" did you mean the fax machine? If you get a dial tone by running a phone through the fax machine, then the line is good. I have used a fax machine over Sunrocket before they went defunct, which used the same technology base as Vonage - so it should work. If you used to get an audible dial tone when using the fax, and no longer do, and you are geting a dial tone on a regular phone that is connected to the ext. port of the fax machine, then the problem has to be in the fax machine itself, not the VOIP. If you can verify that, we can go from there.

Check tel line error msg

Have you checked for dial tone on the line? It sounds like you have a problem with the inside wiring to the phone jack. To test your dial tone out call you number and use a screwdriver and stick it inside the phone jack on the wall, if you have dial tone to the jack you will hear the "short" that you are putting on the line.

Phone has a dial tone but will not dial

I would first verify that the line is good. Take a known good corded phone. YES corded phone !!! and try dialing with it and make sure it dials on the line every time. Also make sure that the Pulse/Tone setting is set for your service( there is still a few area without Touch Tone belive it or not)

Once you verify that the line is ok check each phone and take the defective ones back to where you bought them.

Problems with lexmark 1270 sending fax

See if you are getting a dial tone from the phone.
-> If you can't, check the line.
-> If you can get a dial tone and successfully call out. Make sure you are not running on a digital phone system, IP phones, using DSL, etc. Fax machines have problems on digital lines and many either won't work without a line scrubber or work intermittantly.

You’ll need either a 6-button or a 24-button set SPIRIT CS administration.

First the control unit ADMIN switch must be ON, the administration overlay must be in place on station 10, and the set must be plugged into control unit jack 10 (call processing is interrupted only at station 10).

After moving the admin switch, and before dialing Ftr 7 -
From station 10 press intercom,
Press speaker,
Dial *0,
Dial 1,
Then Press Ftr 7.

Each line indicator light will show the current dialing type for that line. If the light is OFF, that line is set for touch tone dialing. If the light is ON, the line is set for dial pulse
dialing.

To change the dialing type for a line or lines, press the line button(s) and dial the
appropriate digit from the table below. You may press more than one line button to make the change on more than one line. If you enter a digit without first pressing a line button you will hear the error tone.

Be sure to turn the admin switch back off when you’re finished.
