No power at all

My L32 hdtv doesn't turn on when plugged to a power supply at all.  I removed the back panel portion of the t.v.  Power is present going to a "circuit board" located at the top right portion, however there are 2 plugs that connect that "circuit board" to another one located in the middle portion of t.v (this is the one that the AC plug is located).  I checked the small glass fuse, and that was O.K.  Any ideas on what could be the problem.  Maybe a burnt capacitor or something.

Re: no power at all

I have the same set.. power light on front stays yellow (standby). first thing im going to check are the mainboard (one in the middle) fuses.. these are very tiny and are rightbelow the right plug where the power comes in. they are labeled f3, etc. and are tiny and white. looks like one says 3 amp and one is 2 amp. if one of these are open then the main board will not recieve the proper voltages to turn on the set when the power button is pressed.

Dead set (no indication lights coming on when I push the power button.

Hi Gwendolyn,

First of all thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.
I'm assuming here that you're TV is a Vizio L32 HDTV.
My initial advice is to ensure that the AC source(outlet) is live. Please plug the unit to a known working outlet, if you are using a surge protector, directly plug the power cord of the TV to the outlet to confirm that the AC source is not the issue here.
If you've confirmed that the AC source is not the problem, then the fault is inside the TV and most likely the power supply. Most of the TV with a dead set symptoms that I've encountered is a power supply issue but of course needs to be confirm.

If your unit is not under warranty period (if so, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free, opening the rear cover will void the warranty), open the back cover, check the internal fuse of the power supply board, this is near where the AC power cord's directly connected. Check its continuity using the multimeter/ohmmeter, if you found it open, replaced it with a new same current rating that is printed on its body itself. Sometimes internal fuse fail due to voltage surge/flactuation, aging, etc, replacing with new one resolve the issue, however if the fuse blow again, this is an indication of more serious problem on the power supply board, it needs to replaced the entire board.
If the fuse is intact, you have to measure the output voltage of it through connector J1 (pin 9,10,11). You should be getting 5 Volts. If there's no voltage at these pin, you're power supply board is dead, replaced the entire board. If the 5 volts is present, replaced the main board.
I've provided you a links for the power supply board and mainboard below.

I have the Vizio vp322 hdtv10a that doesn't turn on,I opened the back panel and found that the capacitors aren't bulging.

Hello, might need a Main Unit or Power Supply by the sounds of it. Try out a company named for parts. I have used them with great success in the past. I included a link to their site from your model page. Hope that helps!

Tv won't turn no the vizio logo only blinks

That problem is 2 causes, its either power supply or system board.
This are some D.I.Y procedure for troubleshooting.

  1. Open the back cover by removing all screws at the back.
  2. Try to look at the power supply board and find the leak/bulge on top capacitors. If you found, replace it with the same type and ratings.
  3. If the power supply doesn't have any leak capacitors.Try to power it ON to perform voltage checking.
  4. Check the output voltage of power supply such as 5vdc,12vdc and 24vdc by using voltmeter. If this 3 supplies having a voltage drop or flickering voltage while on power ON.Check the following parts on the power supply, change value/open resistor, shorted transistor and diode or repeat step # 2.
  5. When the output voltage is stable and all parts looks OK.The problem could be on system board.Unfortunately the system board or main board is not for D.I.Y because the parts inside is very logic and very sensitive. That is replaceable.

Thank you and good luck.
