If you are using a digital camera on Windows Vista, and have not loaded service pack 1 (available through Microsoft Update) there is a flaw in the Vista operating system that fails to load the basic USB drivers that are used by most digital cameras, including GE. In November of 2007, Microsoft released a specific patch to solve this problem, the patch can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=51F0EF25-280B-4613-A600-C61224BACD1C&displaylang=en

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos and to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

F:/ drive does not read Scan Disk device

Try inserting the memory card into an USB card reader and then plug it into a different computer. If this computer does not detect the memory card then the memory card is probably faulty.

How do I download my pictures from my Sony camera to the computer?

Here is one instructional video tutorial from Sony Support; also could try this procedure:
- Take off your memory stick from your camera and insert it into your memory stick adapter. Open your camera's battery case and gently push the memory stick until you hear a faint "click," then remove it from the camera. Place the memory stick inside the adapter that comes with your camera.
- Insert the adapter into your computer's memory card reader, if you have one. The adapter, which is larger than the memory stick itself, is approximately the same size as an ordinary SD memory card.
- Connect your Sony digital camera to your computer using its USB cable if you can't find or don't have a memory stick adapter. Insert the small end of the USB cable into the camera. Insert the wider, flatter end into one of your computer's USB ports.
- Click "Open Device to View Files" to open your memory stick or camera. Search for the DCIM folder and click on it. Navigate through any photo subdirectories you've created and highlight photos you want to transfer to your computer. Right-click anywhere in a given folder, then click "Copy." Go to the location where you want to store your images, then right-click within that folder. Click "Paste" to transfer your images.

Hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).

When i insert my card it says no card inserted. i have tried numerous cards that work in other phones, also when i try to sync music it says connect failure. i have downloaded all the required software....

ok, i finally figured out the dang thing on my computer! i have a 2 gb sandisk memory card. it came in a pack with two different sized adapters that the memory card can slip into, depending on what size is compatible with your computer (i did not know that this is what you do with the memory card). i was keeping the tiny memory card in my phone (LG choc 8500), while plugging the charger cord (which doubles as the usb cable) into my computer. alas, that did nothing. more frustration--thinking it must be that i don't have the right "software" to run to access my photos and doing many searches for the "right" software solution... then the discovery with inserting the memorycard into the adapter (on my laptop, it's at the front below the touchpad-very sly sneaky place). then, after, again, nothing happening, searching forums on other lost memory card-ers, i discovered that there is a very tiny "switch" on the left of the adapter, next to the "S" on sandisc, that must be flipped down in order to "work," or grant photo/media access. a prompt came up on my screen asking me to choose which program to run/open the photos on (for me, it was windows media center), and to my relief, all my photos were there! i hope this helps. chk dis out http://repair-mobiles.com/n82-mmc-memory-card-not-detected-problem/

How do you use the mobile sd card ?

Gather all the items needed, . You can upload or download photos and music from your cell phone to your computer. You can upload photos from digital cameras and from digital camcorders. Turn on your computer and allow it time to load all programs.

  • 2 Remove the memory card from your cell phone or camera and place it in the appropriate slot in the MobileMate memory card reader. It can only be inserted one way, so you cannot make a mistake. Once the card is inserted into the reader, plug the reader (with the card in it) into the USB port on the computer. This can likewise only be inserted one way.
  • 3 To upload to your computer, heed the following directions. On your monitor, there should be a window asking what action you would like to perform with the new hardware. Click on "View in a new window." This will bring up a new window showing you two folders. One folder is the DCIM and the other one is MISC. Click on the DCIM folder. This will open a new window with a short name for the device you took the memory card out of. Click on that device, and your information should pop up in another window.
  • 4 Remove the items from the memory card and place them on your computer by highlighting the item you want to remove and right-clicking on it. When the menu appears, click on "move" and then tell it where to move the item once the new window appears.
  • 5 Placing music onto your cell phone is just as easy as removing it. On your computer, locate the music you would like to place on your cell phone. Make sure it is in the form of an MP3. Insert your memory card into the reader and insert the reader into the USB port on your computer.
  • 6 Your computer should recognize this as a new "removable disk" and give it an alphabetical title, such as "E," "F," "G," "H," or so forth. Now drag and drop the title of the music you want to place on your cell phone to the new "removable disk" letter. Your computer will automatically transfer the information from your computer to the memory card.
  • 7 Simply remove the reader, remove your card and replace the card in your cell phone. Your music is ready for you to listen to!

I have vgn-ns150j and I just inserted my sd memory card with Vista OS. How can I view the files on my memory card?

The card will be read on the computer as a removeable drive. Go to "My Computer" and look for the removeable discs that will be listed as well as the disc you inserted may have a name like sandisc, that may show up in "My Computer" as one of the drives listed. Double click on the drive to view the folders within. It works like any other file, you can copy, paste delete, etc.
