find the default gateway address which will be the ip address of the router,,type it in the address bar and userid box and password box will come up.default username is root,,passwrd:12345,,then check the options at the top ,,

  • Abhisek Das May 12, 2009

yep.192.168.100.1 is the ip address of the wireless router.put it n the adress bar and enter, userid and passwrd box comes up,,if it keeps on coming.then either the username or the passwrd has been changed.1 thing u can try is reseting the router,,but it will be a bit risky,,it will also disrupt your entire wireless netwrk and you hav to reconfigure the router.was the motorola router provided by ur ISP?call them up and ask them to reset it ,,take dwn the username and passwrd and then go inside the router settings,,best of luck again

SBG900 disconnects from internet periodically (15min - 1 hour)

does it happen at the same time daily or is it periodically ?
this might be because of an overload of users using your network at the one time or
it might be a fault in your wireless router how old is it ?
if you call your ISP internet service supplier during the outage time and get them to test the connection you will need to have your computer turned on they will be able to tell you where the fault lies
hope this helps you

Having problems connecting my lap top to my wireless cable modem. Its a motorola SBG900 gateway. everything seems to be connected. Im able to use it with a ethernet cable just need help geting it to be...

Ok. As per your statement your laptop is working perfectly , when you are connected your laptop with with the cable wire.So the network cable is OK. So you have to configured the wireless cable in your laptop when it is connected to your laptop. After connecting the cable wire to your laptop you have to findout the gate way of your ISP ( Internet Service Provider). To find out the gate way , kindly follow the following instructions.

First findout the IP address , subnet mask, and Gateway addresses of your ISP ( InternetService Provider ).To find out the above mentionedaddresses first open the control panel -> network connections -> local area connction -> properties -> Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPV4) OR Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPV6)according to your ISP -> Properties

By the systematic selection as mentioned above you will get the IP address, subnet mask and Gateway addresses. Kindly note the Gate way address of your ISP. Then enter the gateway address in the browser and open the window. Then a control panel / a window will appear. It will prompt you to enter 1). user name, and 2) password. If you are having the user name and passwords provided by your ISP , kindly enter them in the window and click to open. Then the particulars of Motorola SURFboard SBG900 Wireless Router will be displayed in the window. Then click the wireless icon and click to enable. Hurray ! your laptop will work perfectly through wireless. If you are not aware of about the 1). User name and 2). password , you must approached to your ISP and try obtain the same for working of your laptop wirelessly.

Motorola SB5100 and linksys router connection

The only thing that you need to setup on your Linksys for it to work with cable is to make sure that DHCP is enabled on the router.  You will need to plug your router into the modem via the ethernet cable and then plug your neighbors pc into a link port on the router (the cable modem plugs into the internet port)  You will also need to follow the reboot procedure.  Power everything off.
1: Turn on the surfboard and wait about 1 minute for the surfboard to make a connection with your ISP (the link light should come on).
2:Turn on your router and wait for your router to sync up with the surfboard . 3: Turn on your computer. Whenever you plug anything into a cable modem, you must recycle power to the modem.  It "remembers" the last device that was plugged into it, so it's memory needs to be cleared.

Setup your IP addresses correctly by checking available IP addies in router.

You will have to know your router addie and your available wireless addies (in router). For this you need to enter router configuration (read manual).

Open network properties, tcp/ip properties, check "use following ip addie and enter something like 192.168.1.5 depending on what your router is setup as available.

Enter same subnet as your router.

Enter DNS server addies from you ISP.

Wireless Doesn't Work - No light.

If someone else setup the router for you they may have turned off the wireless. If you can connect via ethernet use the web based configuration utility to turn it back on.

The intial setup is as follows in the manual:

To provide an initial wireless connection to your network and the Internet:
1 Connect the SBG900 to the cable TV system as described in Section A.
2 On each wireless client computer, install the wireless adapter hardware and
driver software according to the manufacturer's instructions.
3 On each wireless client computer, set up a wireless adapter profile to
“connect” the client to the SBG900. The procedure depends on your
wireless adapter and computer operating system.
In your initial profile, use the SBG900 default wireless Network Name
(ESSID) motorola (case-sensitive).
Your computers are connected but not secure.
The default SBG900 settings provide no wireless security. After
your wireless LAN is operational, be sure to enable security as
described in “Setting Up the Wireless LAN” in the SBG900
User Guide
.
