Dell E198WFP Monitor has white screen

I have a strong suspicion that you have burned a capacitor or two on the monitor. You will need to bring this in to have it serviced as it will require the monitor to be opened up and new capacitors replaced/resoldered.

Hello, maybe you haven't got a driver loaded for your graphics card. Windows reverts to low resolution by default if it hasn't got a graphics driver loaded so at least you have some display to enable you to see what you're doing whilst installing the relevant driver. sometimes if you unplug it and hold the power button on and then off and then plug it back in sometimes will reset them. if not check to see if the buttons are stuck on. I had a copuble of the dell montors and they seemed to be no good so I use an acer montors and they seem to be better

green light on means your monitor showing display.change your button .your monitor working properly.

When you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode thne go to control panel and display property then change screen resolution to 1024*768 then check.But if you are not able to safe mode and other menu when you press F8 then follow below steps.1 by 1 and check.
First open cpu cabinet then pull cmos cell from motherbord for 10 minutes.
Refix RAM memory.
Reattch ATX power connector to motherbord.
Reattch power cable and SATA or ide cable to harddisk.
Clean dust from all parts of motherbord.
Open processor fan and processor.
Then reattach both.
Make sure motherbord is not ground with cabinet.
Remove pci cards from motherbord then check.

bad capacitors inside the monitor they need to be replaced, or if the power light is blinking then there are transistors that need replacement

Dell had a problem with horizontal lines in some of their monitors a little while back. I would try contacting Dell Tech Support to see if your monitor is one of the one effected. I think they were replacing the monitors that had the problem, but I'm not completely sure.

That model of the dell monitor you have is very skinny, you need something that can sit on top comfortably.
