Washer filled with water then stopped. Kenmore 110.25842400

Washer filled with water then stopped. Acts as if unplugged. No noises or anything throughout the dial settings. Electrical receptacle still good with 110V. Other end of cord is still attached to washer. Where do I start troubleshooting?

The washer is at my sons house. He doesn't have a volt meter, but he plugged in a fan and it worked. When he took out some clothes, he heard it add water to bring it to the proper level. I will check the lid switch first, but I think it would've drained when he changed dial settings, even if the lid switch is not working. Then I will check the other things that was listed. Thank you!

start with trying other cycles to get it to drain....then verifying 110V at the controller board.... and finally the evac. valve solenoid.

If everything checks out - your timer has failed.

Did you actually check the receptacle voltage to make sure you have 120 volts at the receptacle?

I am having the same issue with a very similar model (1102586) - I have verified the 120V power (even tried a different receptical just in case). It has filled with water, but does nothing else. I've tried all positions on the timer dial, but nothing, doesn't drain, doesn't agitate, doesn't spin. This is at a remote vacation cabin and I'd rather not have to purchase spare controller oard and timer jsut to figure out which one is bad. Any suggestions?

If it fills and drains then I would suspect the motor coupler is bad, if it's a direct-drive washing machine. Most of them are, kenmore 80 or 90 series.

My Kenmore top loading washing machine is leaking from the bottom. The water is dripping from the bottom of the front panel. What needs to be fixed and how do I do it?

This symptom usually indicates that you have a failed inlet solenoid water valve assembly. Completely unplug the washer from the electrical supply and see if the water stops filling. If it does, then you likely have a control board failure. This is rare but possible. If the water continues to fill with the washer unplugged from electricity, I recommend shutting off the hot and cold water supply faucets behind the washer. It is likely that the water will stop filling the washer. This would indicate that you have a failed water valve assembly.

Kenmore dishwasher has loud noise during fill. If you let it go, the washer fills. Once filled, noise stops and wash cycle continues. Sounds like plumbing does when there is air in the pipes. Not a...

This isn't a solution but rather a comment, if the problem is happening only during the fill, then it could be the water inlet valve. Perhaps there is a soliniod going in the valve, watch to see if the fill cycle starts to dimminish over time. Does the sound come anytime the washer fills, ie: rinse cycle? if so I would replace the valve, probably 50 dollars would get you a new one and you can do it yourself to save a little more cash. good luck.

Kenmore front-load washer stops at rinse cycle

When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it.
Good luck!

Kenmore 90 Series Washer Noise--Won't spin

For Tegres
If the noise is only when there is water flowing, check tighten the screws that mount the water fill solenoid valves to the case. The solenoids operate on line current so they vibrate at 60/50Hz (local suppply frequency) if they are loose at all, the noise is loud the body acts as resonators

For SRONEAL, that symptom describes coupling failure exactly, have you removed the coupling to check, often times the motor side hub is stripped, but there is no visible external damage

set the load size to small, fill with water.

now after it fills with water do you hear anything? motor noise?

If you hear motor noise, it probably has a broken motor coupler.

if it doesnt do anything I would look at the lid switch and activator, the lid has to close and the switch has to know it closed. did the tab on the lid break off?
